There never seems to be a shortage of unfixed cats.
I returned the Albany girls last night. This morning I loaded up the other five who had been fixed yesterday and headed to Lebanon, first to return the two big boys, then to try for those trailer park cats. You know, the tame torti that the woman has been unable to get into a carrier? Plus the lone unfixed male there now.
I set up my drop trap in the lady's driveway. Her car was gone since she was at work.
Wasn't five minutes before the unfixed male popped around the shed corner and went under the drop trap. I yanked it down over him with the cord, that attaches to the stand that holds it up, then transferred him to a live trap. That was fast. I hoped the torti would show up just as fast. She didn't.
I was there til after 10:00 hoping for her to show up and that's when she finally did. She was easy to catch under the trap too. Then I folded up the drop trap, wound up the line that I tied to its stand, that then ran to my car and through the car window, for me to yank. I left food out for the fixed cats there, and after that drove the mile or so to where the big boys live and let them go.

Hank got himself caught today |
I pulled the trashed contents of the traps out afterwards and put them in a plastic bag. My plan was to use those traps to catch others at the colony in Sweet Home, once I released the three there.
I had also brought spray cleaner and cleaned the two traps the big boys had been in as best I could, then bagged the trash from the traps. The woman who feeds the two big boys took the bag from me to her trash can.
Off to Sweet Home then! The colony caretaker wasn't there, when I arrived, which makes gettng anything done a whole lot easier.
First I set the two large traps I'd already emptied and cleaned. Next I released the three cats fixed yesterday and began to clean those traps out, putting the papers and food dishes into a trash bag I had brought. I had four cats caught by the time a red min van came down that gravel steep drive off the main road. Wheelchari man was in the passenger side seat. Another man, dressed nicely, got out of the drivers seat and ran inside Jim's house to get his wheelchair. He'd been to church.
I had my fifth trap set and knew it was likely wheelchair man would be back outside to chatter immediately, after he put his church things away, which is what happened. Fortunately I quickly caught a fifth cat, said my goodbyes and left. I'd also filled a little plastic storage bin cat house, with new straw I'd brought.
I came home. Pip and Hank will be fixed tomorrow along with the two torbi girls from Sweet Home--Thelma and Louise. The other three colony cats will be fixed Monday, along with two more, from elsewhere.
Alder, she has to wait til Monday to be fixed. Alder is a girl. |
Forest has to wait also. Forest is a boy. |
Easy, a little boy, is the third who must wait a day |

That was my day. The lady who had brought me the injured black cat she'd found in her barn came to pick him up again. Once I moved him to the bathroom and discovered what a love bug he is, sent her photos and videos, she wanted to make a house cat of him. She's taking him to her vet this week for those injuries. She named him Panther.
His front leg injury was looking better by today. He let me wash it well and soak it. His right rear foot is injured, as well as his right lower lip. |
So that was my day, a good day really, nothing very hard.
Sound like a full day.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Yeah but I was back home by 1:30 then just lounged waiting for the Tangent woman to come pick up Panther.
DeleteVery successful trapping then. I hope she does really care for Panther.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he has a vet appointment in a couple of days. It was amazing to that his right rear foot swelling was way down, after a couple days where he just slept and lazed laid out, in my bathroom, in front of the heat vent.
DeleteI am glad that the injured black boy will get attention and a home.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, your day sounds good. And productive.
Yeah, she's an animal lover, that's for sure and has a good husband.
DeletePrettiest one is Thelma
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, but that photo of Pip doesn't do her right. She is a beautiful little girl. Easy, the light mac tab boy teen, is really pretty also.
DeleteYou had a productive day with no extra meanness or hurdles. Sounds like a good day, indeed!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was good in many respects.
DeleteYou rock! And I'm again just so thrilled for Panther. Take care!
