Bad Glass. The Windshield Hit

My day was almost over.  I was driving the cats home from the McMinnville clinic.   They were all fixed.  I would just set them up for the night.  The three Albany teens I will drive home in the morning while the Millersburg woman is coming to get the girl she trapped who was fixed.

I was almost home, on Springhill Drive just outside Albany.   I was in a line of cars heading towards Albany.  People drive like nutcases on that road.   Here come four or five cars and trucks going the other way, going super fast.  Suddenly something flies out or off one of them and angles towards my windshield.  I see it coming, its large, and just automatically duck.  It hit the windshield right in the middle of the driveers side, creating two big cracks, glanced off, grazed my hood then landed who knows where.  Might have been some sort of tool.  I couldn't tell what it was exactly or which vehicle it came off.  I couldn't stop either, not in the middle of a line of speeding cars.

Windshield is ruined.  Liability insurance only on that old car.  Anyhow, its covered. Somebody nice said they'd pay it.   It will be replaced Friday in my driveway by the Glass Man of Albany.

  1. I am glad that it will be replaced. Huge thanks to the nice person. And very glad that while the car was damaged you were not.

So dangerous. People need to take vehicle loading very seriously. A bale of paper came off a truck we were following once, but it was just as I pulled out to overtake the truck and it missed us. It would have weighed maybe half a ton.

    1. A bale of paper? That would have crushed you to death.

  3. Oh, that's scary, but glad it will be fixed soon. Speeding trucks are really a hazard. There are soccer fields being built near me and dump trucks go up and down our little road all day hauling dirt to the fields. They go really fast. People have complained to no avail. I'm guessing that they get paid by the load.

    1. They probably do get paid per load and they're the worst for throwing off gravel or big huge dirt clods that can smash a windshield.
