Another 8

Sunday was a pleasant day weather wise.  It's cooled to mid to low 80's here, which is indeed very nice.

I went nowhere, as usual, but did a lot of cleaning up.  It's easy to get behind with being so busy.

I thought about going to the lake, but its so busy always on Sunday the thought held no appeal.  Besides, I have been having difficulty sleeping due to knee pain waking me.  The pain is so severe when it starts there is no sleeping to be had.  So I got online yesterday and found a lot of tips and exercises to help night knee pain.  I started the exercises yesterday, along with the switch on when I take Aleve, and doing stretching exercises before bed.  I am loath to visit the doctor over it as I've had zero luck with the doctor lately, like with my elbow and like when my other knee was hurt.  DIY health care around here.  I felt a surge of happiness after finding some of the tips and felt hope I might get relief.   The pain coupled with lack of sleep leaves me grumpy.

I also understand my left knee pain may be related to use of the clutch in my manual transmission car.  I quit wearing sandals when I drive and need to get some new shoes.  They break down, I know and I've had the walking shoes I wear too many years.  I don't have a large budget for clothing, including shoes.  Pair that with having very long narrow feet which makes it terribly hard to find shoes.  The sandals I wear from spring to fall are very very old also and broken down.  I know I should throw them out.  What can I say, I'm on a tight budget.   I also cut my own hair and have done so all my life, to save money.  I'm not some glitzy glamor girl from the big city.  You should see my place if you don't believe me.  My only chair for sitting is actually a lawn chair.  At least its one of those zero gravity ones.  I like it.  But there are no frills here.   I get by.   I don't mind.

I finally finished the undercoat to repainting the garage cat room. . Let's see, when did I start that?  Months and months ago.

And washed the curtains and mopped the floor diligently enough so that I will be able to reglue a couple spots of the vinyl that have come up.

I don't get many channels anymore on the TV from the antenna atop the house.  Maybe that goes along with barely being able to use my phone here the reception is so bad.   If I have calls to make, I try to make them from the park, when I go there, as the reception is much better.

I have 8 spay neuter reservations on Tuesday.   Why Tuesday?  I don't know.  That's usually not a day I have them.

Different clinic.

I was going to take six kittens, four from the Bellinger colony, Titus's colony, and one looks just like him, and two from Albany.  However the Bird Lady was unable to get the two kittens last night.  I'll get the Bellinger kittens this morning.

However I'd been called about an older couple who both were taken to nursing homes after suffering dementia related episodes.  I"d tried for two years to get them to let me fix first their unfixed black female, who kept having kittens, and then her offspring.  They'd kick them outside once they got not so cute.   Now they not only need fixed but homes of some kind.  I've put out pleas for barn homes online, given another tenant there cat food to feed them for now, and at least am getting them fixed.  That starts with the four I caught last night.

I wasn't going to catch them last night.  I was going to wait until this morning.  But there's a big huge dumpster sitting out front of the old couple's former cottage, awaiting their stuff and that is happening tomorrow, so I knew I'd have trouble catching them tomorrow.

I was only going to catch two, since I thought I'd be taking the Albany pair of kittens.  But when the Bird Lady said the people with the kittens were not responding, I went ahead and caught four of the cats.  I think they're all boys I caught.  One is an adult and the other three teen brothers.

This is a tame fixed boy, the old couple's personal favorite cat who allegedly cried up a storm after he realized his people were gone for good.

Little Mama, Hitler and another teen, sitting around.

Tiger checks out the dumpster

Tux, another boy who needs fixed and a home.

Tiger, who will be one of the ones fixed Tuesday

Scar, one of the three young brothers who will be fixed and who need a home.

Tom, another of the brothers

Huck, another boy
I'm happy that these four kittens, when I pick them up this morning, at the Bellinger Colony, mean that colony at least is done.  I can't recall the number of adults I got fixed there, but I do recall 14 kittens removed.  With these latest four, that will be 18 kittens alone helped there.  It was fortunate to find out many of the adults were already fixed.  The cats and kittens there have been in good health and well fed.

  1. It's nice that you got some cats that were in good health and well fed for a change. Good luck with your knee. Exercise and stretching are almost always indicated no matter what the cause.

  2. I am sure the cats will and do miss the old people.
Thank you for making their lives better (though they might temporarily dispute that).
I do hope your exercises help. Pain is debilitating (and grumpy making).

    1. Yes, I'm sure they miss them, like crazy. They were who they had.

  3. Wow! Great job. But I'm baffled as to how folks can throw an animal out the door. We cherished our kitties Luna and Tilly to the very end, while Jezebel is still living like a princess. ~grin~ Take care, my dear.

    1. Yeah how do they just throw an animal out the door? I have no clue Darla. I know your cats are spoiled and loved rotten, which I love!
