It was a defeat. We all hoped they would all survive. Another has tested positive.
Two clinics in Albany have now closed due to staff members testing positive.
Oh boy.
The governor has shut down all businesses in the state, reluctantly I might add, that deal with the public directly. Other businesses can stay open as long as they can social distance. We need at least some people working. Meanwhile, grocery stores are hiring like crazy. And so are the like of delivery services and trucking companies.
The economy will simply shift and change to adapt.
My other brother lost one of his biggest contracting jobs, due to corona and nobody visiting the high end tourist attraction where he was building. What does that mean for him and his small company? I don't know but I worry about them
He will try his darnedest, to keep his employees working, I know that. He's that way, considers them family.
I love that about him.
A friend donated four bags of food. She left them on her porch for me. I picked them up and went directly to the park. The campground is closed but the day use area is still open so I fed the boys but I don't know how long it will be open and I have to steel myself to what may happen.
I then delivered two bags of food to households who needed it. I've been doing a lot of that lately. I don't interact with the people, rest assured. I keep my distance.
So it goes, in our brave new corona world, where politicians announce people 70 and over should be willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of the country getting going again. In other words, for the almighty dollar, which is way more important to some than to others. Rich people don't want to not be rich anymore. The horror.
The President wants the country rip roaring and open again in two weeks time. He said that today. Notably absent at the last two morning Presidential corona briefings: Dr. Fauci, the good doctor, the voice of reason and science---gone. Did they disappear him? I start to wonder. No, he was back this evening. Ha ha, conspiracy theories can be fun but generally do not reflect reality.
Check out the former Cascadia homeless camp troop of five cats, now up near Scappoose, having a lot of fun with a toy.
.
Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThe almightly economy concerns do my fucking head in. As does the President of your country (I first typed your President and changed my mind).
I know its a rightful concern because people can only buy food and pay rent with money, but we were late to address the virus threat and now its hit hard in the US and we probably need to focus on that, cause the world won't want our corona infected bodies and goods anyhow, if we don't.
DeleteIt is indeed a rightful concern but I worry that the health implications seem to be secondary.
DeleteYes, here that may be the case.
ReplyDeleteWell, the President of our country is over 70 himself Apparently he thinks he has immunity. We wonder.
ReplyDeleteIt was the Lt. Governor of Texas who suggested it and he's 69. If he wants to volunteer to die, fine by me. I won't be offering myself upon the alter made of money (that isn't even mine). It was an interesting remark from someone who identifies as pro life.
DeleteI'm sorry about that veteran dying. :( That video was the perfect closure, for sure. Be well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Darla!
