Rocky Goes to the FCCO

Rocky needed neutered, then to go home.

Without any local options for that to happen, I was able to get an appointment, given up by a Portland cat rescue group, for yesterday.  The appointment was at the FCCO clinic up in Portland.

I sailed up there in just over an hour, without encountering any congestion Friday morning.

I had not been to the FCCO clinic in quite a long time.  It's hard to take cats there, for me.  I check them in, then need to kill an entire day in Portland, often a rainy or bitter cold or extremely hot day.  Not that easy, not with congestion making it sometimes difficult to get back to the clinic on time, if I venture too far from it.  Severe traffic congestion going in to Portland and upon leaving add hours to the travel time.

But had to be done and smooth sailing heading up.   I saw some familiar faces at the clinic, long time staff I hadn't seen in awhile.

I left and did some shopping for items like laundry soap, then went to the movies.  That killed two and a half hours.  I had not been to the movies for a long long time either.  Now at Regal, you have to choose a seat when you buy your ticket.  It's really ridiculous.  I went to see the latest Star Wars movie, as it fit the time span.

There were fewer than 20 people inside that theater, at that time of day.   The movie started at 10:30 a.m., but by chance, I had chosen a seat, when forced to, right next to the seats a married couple randomly chose, also when forced to do so, when they bought their tickets.  A mostly empty theater!  I quickly moved to give them their space and me mine.

The movie wasn't too bad.  About the same as many of the other Star Wars movies, in general plot.  I enjoyed it.

I picked up Rocky at the pick up time and headed home.  This time I was not so lucky and the congestion was horrible.  It took over an hour to go a few miles.  This exhausted me so much I stopped in at the rest area and took a short nap.  Finally I got home.

Rocky's going back in a few minutes, all neutered and vaccinated and parasite free!

I thought the traffic would be ok at this time of the year. Our roads are very quiet as many people are on holidays.

  2. Thank you for all you do for Rocky - and for so many other cats too.
It is years since I have been to the cinema. Last time I went I was blown away by hoe LOUD it was.

    1. Yes, with the wrap around sound systems, its a very loud experience, but that was ok.

  3. I'm always sorry when I forget to take earplugs with me to the theater. I haven't been in a couple of years either. However, I have some gift cards we should try to use. I hope they're still good.

    1. If you still have good hearing, you would need those ear plugs to dampen down the extreme sound. They must assume everyone is nearly deaf by then or something.

  5. Sorry about the awful traffic. :( There's only one movie we're interested in seeing right now, and that's "1917". We're actually going to see it at an Imax theater, tickets costing less than expected. I appreciate your friendly reminder about ear plugs. I took some along when we went out to see "American Satan" and ended up wishing the music played louder! That was ironic. Be well, my dear.
