Adorable Kittens Head to Heartland Humane

You might want to take note, if you're thinking of adopting a kitten.

Meet Willow, Bliz and Snow!!  They're off to Heartland later today and will be up for adoption there once they hit the magic two pound mark and get fixed.

They're Sophie's kittens.  Sophie is another white female, down where I tried to catch the long hair white stray female, Snowball, but never did.  Instead I caught five boys, and got them fixed.

Two of those boys were all white too---Fletcher, who was returned, because he is fed by the same people who own white Sophie.  Astro, however, another big white male, went to Heartland and eventually got a home.

Fletcher was fixed late March just days after Sophies' kittens were born.   Her owners gave the kittens up last night.  They are now nearly seven weeks old and so adorable.

Three girls!  One short hair white---Bliz, a girl.  One long hair white---Snow, a girl.  And then little Willow, a brown tabby tux girl.

Willow, who is a flirt, playful and loves to be cuddled

Sophie, their mom, will be fixed next Monday.

Today, two cats from south Albany are up being fixed in Salem.   Their people say they showed up a few months ago, with two kittens, whom they assume are the kittens of the mackerel tabby.  I did not have a chance to actually "sex" either cat before taking them up to the clinic, but I did note that the alleged mother isn't lactating at all.  They're a bit skittish, the two adults, but not feral.  They live outside, and I think they put the kittens inside, in the crate to keep them safe.  Lots of cats have vanished in the last two months at that complex.

I saw the gray tabby male kitten they keep in a crate inside, to protect him from their doberman.  He looks to be 8 weeks of age.  I asked if they would give him up, but  they were not sure.  They say their son, who is under ten, gave away the second kitten.

At least the two adults will now be fixed.

And Sophie's kittens will be at Heartland, fostered til 8 weeks, then.....stand in line!!  They're spectacular.

And when I took the three girl kittens to Heartland, I heard Benji, the teen male from the trailer park in Sweet Home (photo below) was getting a home right as I left.  Good luck, kiddo.

Lucy, from the trailer park, the old gal, is quite the lap cat now.

  2. There is nothing cuter than a kitten and I'm sure they will find good homes. Lucy looks much better than an earlier picture I remember. I'm sure she is very grateful for the second chance you are
    giving her.

    1. Thanks L and L. Lucy has gained quite a lot of weight, although I don't think I will find a shelter to take her on for adoption option, since she is so old. But she is very very happy, purrs all the time, much much better.

Oh, my heart. You are so awesome for what you do. These little lives are saved and safe...thank you, my friend. I am in tears. I really wish I could work with you. Please know I am there in spirit. Hugs...and prayers.

    1. I know, I wish you were closer. Aren't they darling? I'm so glad Heartland could take them. They will go out for foster for a few weeks, as they were only 1.3 lbs or so. They have foster people just waiting and they find homes much better than I ever could, since they are a public shelter, and people are in and out all the time, volunteering and looking at kitties. I'm happy with my place, what I do and grateful for those who can do adoptions and do it well.

    2. I don't have funds like a big shelter either, to provide medical for numerous kittens and cats nor the space to hold them for more than a few nights, nor a high profile adoption venue, so they can quickly move into homes. So its far better, I feel, to move them to somewhere that does, so they can get what they need, the testing, worming, earmite treatment, spay neuter, microchip and get adopted.

  4. Your photos of those kitties make me want to cuddle and make over them. Our lifestyle is way too crazy for us to have cats... your little guys are so precious.

    1. And they were cuddlers too! I know you can't have cats with all your travels.

  5. Ah, you named a kitten after me--ha.

Poor Lucy, what with a plug missing from her nose.

I did finally address your comment on my blog. I was touched by it that I needed a few days to mull over what to say.

    1. Yup, you have a namesake. A kitten namesake. That's a dot on her nose. Does look like a gouge on the photo.
