Change

After the harassment I sat through last night, as a volunteer, trying to help out a neighborhood by getting cats fixed, I think laws need changed.

It's totally ridiculous that people can let their unfixed cats loose on a neighborhood, to breed, fight and spread disease fighting and breeding.

It's totally ridiculous that rescues and shelters bear the costs and burden of this irresponsible crapola in unrelenting streams of unwanted cats and kittens.

It's totally ridiculous I have to sort out whether an unfixed cat out free roaming with no ID is owned or not.

Mandatory spay neuter by age four months for cats.  At least volunteers then don't have to beg and plead with people to get that person's own cat fixed for free.

All free roaming cats must be fixed.  People who feed strays must provide a plan of action for getting them fixed in a time frame.

The overpopulation problem could be solved.  Takes will, laws, money, and access to high volume low cost spay neuter.

But for volunteers to be harassed trying to round up cats and fix cats who are the offspring of residents' cats,  or abandoned by residents unfixed, that's ridiculous.

Fix your cats, people, and at least, if you don't or won't, don't be harassing someone sitting out half the night trying to do it for you.

That's like shitting in your own yard or shooting yourself in the foot.

    1. It is all quite ridiculous when you think about it, that so many efforts exist, from shelters to rescues and trappers, to clean up after people who don't fix their pets. What a world it would be, better in so many ways, if instead, the burden shifted to those causing the problem in the first place. Seems common sense to me.

  2. We don't have the spay or neuter laws, but we do have laws about free roaming pets. At the very least, they are supposed to be wearing their rabies tags if they're out. However, I'm not sure how much that is enforced.

No one should be treated as you have been treated. Those must be pretty miserable people to act like that.
