It is tragic so many cats are left behind or dumped out by Albany residents. It can break your heart to see these sad cases. I have nowhere for this mom. I wish I had somewhere they could go together, but I don't have such a place. There is someone up north willing to foster the kittens, but they can't take mom.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

Mom and Kittens
This is the mom and kittens from down town Albany. The mom is tame and was abandoned then had kittens under some people's house. The gray female kitten and the male black tux were the two I grabbed when crawling around under the house. I netted the little black female kitten today, when returning the males fed at the same house, as strays outside.

Jody- they are all so beautiful! But it is the same everywhere. The two kittens I found dumped three weeks ago are doing great with the exception of some litter box issues. But two nights ago, standing in the middle of a freezing, dark parking lot near where the first two were found, was another tiny female. 3 WEEKS out in the cold, alone OR more dumping? She is almost an exact duplicate of her "sister". But so tiny and didn't even dig into soft kitten food when presented. All she wanted to do was sleep or look around with the biggest eyes. I finally used a syringe to feed her warm KMR and what a difference but she still won't lap or eat solids and is biting at our clothes and fingers and stuffed animals and paper, etc. It doesn't seem vicious but I'm clueless.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Judith
I'm so glad you found that little one, Judith, and saved her from certain death. It does seem to be the same everywhere. It's bad. But then there are good people trying to stop the suffering, like you did, saving that poor little soul.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jody, I appreciate the kudos though I don't even come close to you. Of course, now we have almost freezing rain and it was almost freezing the night before, so I am thankful the little thing came out in the open (catching her was a comedy act!) Any advice on the biting?
ReplyDeleteJudith
Hi Jeanne! Will yak soon!c
Not sure on the biting, might be she's trying to figure out something to eat. If she has any URI at all, she might not be able to smell the food well. Warm it slightly, mush format, rub some on her face. Check her mouth for any problems. Might be teething.
ReplyDeleteTry plain chicken, warm, tiny pieces, no seasoning. That often will trigger the gobbling eating behavior nicely.
ReplyDeleteHey Judith - looking forward....I am so glad you found that poor little thing - she might be "rooting" or something...
