I watched Charlie Gibson soberly deliver quotes from an alleged Bin Laden communication, reacting to Obama policy, like a faithful messenger of doom in league with the doomers.
I thought, 'For gosh sakes, why in the world are they giving him air time?'
Bin Laden is a nobody. At least he should be. The media gives him a worldwide audience for his insignificant rants.
I thought to myself, 'The media needs a backbone. If they had balls and a backbone they would just say no to airing that violence inciting crapola and they'd be heroes!'
I can hear them now. ABC news is being handed the latest threats and rants from Bin Laden. The news director gives it a glance, shaking his head, then says "Can you believe this madman? Hasn't someone strapped him into restraints by now in some mental ward? I mean, this guy is over the top. Mr. Gibson, could you put this story where it belongs, please." The news director winks.
"No problem," Gibson says with an impish grin and heads straight to the men's room, where he hands out strips of the Bin Laden communique, with fraternal boisterousness, to anyone who enters for use as asswipes.
Later, at a bar with journalists from other networks, someone brings up the latest Bin Laden rant and Gibson says, "You know what we do with those, don't you, over at ABC?" The others lean close to hear, then break into uproarious laughter. The common folk at the bar join in, slapping Mr. Gibson on the back in approval.

ReplyDeleteI am of the opion with the technolohy we hve someone knows where Mr. bin Laden is. (and I am no conspiracy buff). I think a)he may be dead anyway or b)it is likely tough to get a good cell or wireless signal to send out those videos to the world - tho many of them are made ahead of time and often they make the background and just insert old B Ladin - and do they do that.
ReplyDeleteAnd if they know where he is, in so many ways now, it hardly matters whether he is caughtg, Thx to this useless wars in Iraq and Afghanisan that is killing innocent Americans, Canadians and the people who live there who harmed no one, Al Queida is now like McDonald's or KFC, a franchise org only most of them do not communicate with each other so they do not even listen to bin Laden. The Bush crowd (and their supporters in oth countries) has unleashed all kinds of terrorists on us, people for whom life is valued at nothing. I saw in Israel how these groups bring up their children to be suicide bombers and how I was hated merely because not only was I a western woman but God forbid (no pun intended), I am Jewish. I harbour no ill will to the Palestenians - I wish them peace actually - it is the people who run the country- the Party of Mr. Abbass (who inherited the party of Arafat) vs Hamas and Hezbollah who are Iran's proxies and Iran wants to blow us all off the map. I am a social democrat, I prefer peace but even amg socialists in Israel, one is hard pressed to find those who would say no to war with Iran, sigh! It's all scary and as BiBi (current Israli PL Benyamin Netanyahu) is fond of saying, It is 1939 and the Leader of Iran - should he win the election HE is in - is Hitler. I really like Obama but ngotiating with them reminds me of neville Chamberlain -you absolutely cannot afford to negotiate with people who want to kill you. As a survivor of the camps during WW 2 once said, what he learned from the death camps was, "if someone tells you he is going to kill you, believe him. " I beleive these guys, starting with bin Laden - if he is alive, his franchises, Ahmadinejad and all the so called believers or those brain washed by Hamas and Hezbollah. So, I may be a social democrat but I am all in favour iof ensuring we are not killed first! The problem is if they kill bin Laden or even Ahmadinejad, they become martyrs and that helps no one except those groups. Ok, so much for my morose thoughts. Back to work!
