Tomorrow's Cats

I'm not sure, actually, how many or what cats will be going up to be fixed tomorrow. Depends on three trappers: the Philomath woman, after more cats; the Lebanon trapper, after the two left at the Boat Kitten colony, and the Albany business, who, at most, would have one, but they may have trapped all the cats there not fixed by now. They have trapped 8 now, four males and four females. They have not seen others, but that doesn't mean there are not others out there.

I am to hear by e-mail about 11:00 p.m. from the Lebanon trapper. I will hear at 7:00 a.m. from the Philomath trapper. As for the Albany business, since the trapper man gets on shift by 5:30 a.m. or 6:00 a.m., I can call him anytime, once up in the morning, to see if he caught another.

Also, depending on how many others are caught, I will be taking up the five teens from the 8 Cat Yard. The 8 cat yard now only has the five teens left unfixed after that good samaritan neighbor saved their roaming fighting male from certain death and got him neutered.

I don't think the Frye Road woman will set her traps. She is after two Siamese. One of them is huge. She still has the elderly black long hair in a rabbit hutch. The cat is tame and eating everything in sight in that hutch. Her hair is thin. She has age spots in her eyes. She also has some sort of rash or burn on one side. She likely got this during time spent in the folks laundry room, scared to death, after they trapped her in their barn. This old gal should not go out to live as an outside barn cat again. She was dumped out there last March. When I took her in for spay, the vet found a badly falling apart uterus infected and smelly. In addition, she had to have six very rotted painful teeth pulled.

What kind of asshole dumps an elderly cat? I'll tell you. A real mother fucking asshole, that's who.

Anyhow, I want to find this wonderful old gal with the interesting face and intelligent piercing impish yellow eyes a respite for her old age. If I could adopt out a couple of cats from here, I'd just let her live what's left of her life right here, as I've done for other old gals in need of a warm spot and food and a comfy bed. That couple out there can't take her in because the husband claims he's cat allergic, which I believe is just a ploy to keep his cat loving wife from bringing in any cats. The excuse is commonly used.

So I know I have five cats to take up tomorrow. But will I have others? I don't know. I'll find out in the morning.

what will you do if you can't find someone to take her? Its so easier to adopt out kittens then end of life adult cats - which is a shame - its like dumping grandmom in the trash can....

  2. OMG Time Travel, I never thought of it that way but you are so right!!! Esp given how such wonderful moms (better than their human counterparts) cats are! We want the kids but not grandma! (In some ways, society is a bit like that and sadly, your comment is a bit too close to the truth.) I often hear younger docs talk about should we operate on so and so bec he is such an age. I had to fight to get my 77 yr old dad cared for properly - I am sure had we not moved him to a better trauma center near a univ, he would have died! They just gave up on him - he had a good life, etc, etc. I did not buy it and told them so.

    But what an astute observation!
