Three More Scravel Colony Kittens Fixed Today

Today, the three Scravel Hill colony kittens adopted by my Philomath friend, Kathy, went up to be fixed. They are three weeks older than the three gray and white kittens, from same colony, fixed last week, whom the colony caretakers took in.

These were three of four I found with their feral mom, whom I then kept here to nurse the newborns for a little over a month, before she said "no more" and I got her spayed and returned her. I bottle fed the kittens for a a few more weeks, then adopted them out. These three went to a good friend of mine. Newman, Peeps and Gootchee are their names. The photos above are of them when they were very tiny indeed. Their feral mom was none too happy with the photo episode.

  1. I wish you could move to Canada!!...I hope your country starts to improve the economy soon. I fear that so many people, forced out of their homes, for whatever reasons, will abandon their pets when they leave their houses,to live in their cars.
You really should have been a writer, you have so much talent and are so articulate and descriptive. I hope you can find a nice place in Corvallis.,sounds like a nice town. Albany??..doesn't sound like a great place, but you made a difference in so many cats lives there,I'm sure there are plenty in Corvallis, needing to be helped too. There are so many, all over the world, wish we could help them all.....

  2. Thank you, IslandGirl. Yes, our economy is down the drain, that is for sure. Oregon's governor wants to raise taxes at such a time. Insane, is what that idea is, disrespectful for the thousands of Oregonians out of work and down and out. Disrespectful. There are so many cats in need everywhere, that is for sure. There is a southern California doctor who has offered up a prize of $75 million for the person or group of researchers, who can come up with a one shot sterilization "vaccine". He is fed up with the millions of unwanted animals being killed in shelters or ending up on the streets and hopes a monetary prize will put researchers onto the problem. This would certain help. The vet's brother and I were joking "That's just another use for an e-collar!" Put it around the butt end, facing backwards and nobody could mate! We also decided an e-collar would be a great solution to childhood obesity, and even adult obesity. And inappropriate fighting. In the latter case, the e-collars are applied around the wrists of offensive bullies. Hard to fight with e-collar covering each hand!

those kittens are just sooo adorable - no wonder your friend couldn't resist keeping them after fostering them! They have such sweet faces! I'm glad the siblings were able to stay together. And i'm glad wild boy blizz and sweet grasshopper got a home. See, things are looking up. I don't see why a one shot sterilization would be so difficult to develop. Esp/. considering cats have shorter lifespans than humans. How long can we go now with the birth control shots? three years? I forget since i'm past that by now lol...

  4. These are not the three the friend (from Sublimity) was fostering, then adopted. Those were the bottle babes from Corvallis--Flower, Sunshine and Beanie. Sunshine's name is now Oliver. That was a different group of three.

These three, from the Scravel Hill colony, my Philomath friend adopted outright!

Strikes!

No, not the kind of strikes a pitcher throws.  Labor strikes are going on. In Albany, its the teachers on strike against the Greater Albany ...
