Big Guy Dies in Surgery

The Big Guy/latest yard stray was severely ill from FIV. He wouldn't have lived much longer, mouth a mess of stomatitis and tumors also. Poor old guy. He was FIV positive. Today, his suffering ended.

I've had trouble with sick strays in this area. A block away, many cats were left behind by a tenant when he moved. They began living under the house, after he left them. Finally I trapped the adult female and her one surviving offspring. The others had disappeared. The female was Felk positive and had metastisized bladdar cancer. Her son was negative, but dropped dead of a heart attack a couple months later and likely did have the virus. I imagine the littermates, also left behind by that tenant, had a much harder slower death as Feline Leukemia tumors can be horrific.

I've run into double positives in the area also.

I crapped out today. The Big Boy's death is a huge disappointment for me. I wanted to give him a better life. And the rescue woman from Albany, who wanted me to get a cat fixed today, that a man brought her, who lives in downtown Albany, said the cat was pregnant for sure. I picked her up this morning from the woman without even looking at her. The vet just called on that cats, too. They found what they think is a spay scar.

I called the rescue woman back up and asked who the man is who brought her the cat, and why did he bring her the cat. She said "he's the guy who brought me a mom and kittens before." This woman then got those cats fixed and relocated them to Sweet Home. She says he said this cat has been living on his porch.

I asked for an address, which she is going to get. It is very possible, in that district, that I got this cat fixed for whomever abandoned it. Or, that it still has a home, and this man, taking the rescue person cats, might be just someone who doesn't like cats, is grabbing his neighbors cats and may be lying to her. You just never know.
