I decided to go ahead and trap the four remaining kittens, if I could, due to the incoming extreme cold and snow. It has already been snowing on and off and has turned bitter cold, with the wind.
So far, I've caught the three tabbies, one actually a torbi female, already fixed, a tabby tux male, already fixed and a tabby male, not yet fixed. The only kitten I have not caught is the little Siamese.
I am still trying.
The three not yet tested will be tested tomorrow, unless the roads are impassible.
I also bought five storage containers and so far have delivered three of them, to places where there are fed fixed outside colonies. I cut two holes in each, one in the lid, and one in the side, then stuffed them with hay. I also drilled a hole through the lid and also the lip that holds the lid of the container on all four sides, then zip tied the lid to the container through the holes. This should help keep these cats warm during this upcoming freeze out.
The former boondoggies who fed Angel before SafeHaven took him told me tonight, that another couple, also former boondoggies, have left, and possibly left a dozen cats locked in a bedroom. I guess they left before Thanksgiving and for awhile somebody stayed there. I'd seen the cops at the building and asked one former boondoggie why. I don't know if it's true or not. That couple never would get their cats fixed. Then the other couple told me they did, then told me they had 18 and none were fixed, then told me they got them all fixed but the male they abandoned. That abandoned male got fixed when I took in the mom and her two kittens, Soda and Slurpy. I returned the mom cat and that tame black male. They claim the mom has since disappeared, but then the husband said he's seen her, so who knows if she has or hasn't.
Since I live nearby, I figured she might return here. And sure enough, I saw her last night, but didn't connect it, just wondered who the new stray was hanging with the old stray, who is very funny looking, almost like a cross between two species. Now I realize it's her, the mom of Soda and Slurpy.
I haven't trapped the old stray yet. I've tried, but just caught the huge possum that sometimes cruises through. So she's hanging out nearby now, the mom, and seems happy. So anyhow, the former boondoggies tell me their landlord wants me to take the black male. Yeah right. That landlord has never gotten a grip on a tenant pet policy. I've done him huge favors already. Just from that one fourplex, I've gotten probably about 24 cats fixed already. From ONE FOURPLEX.
Well anyhow, Keni, Poppa's pres, vows to help foster and place these kittens and boy do I appreciate that. The family has not returned nor responded to the phone message I left. Probably pointless to even hope they'll help or contribute now.
So, besides the one kitten left over there, there are the four young adults, the first litter this spring of the black tux tame mother, Auntie, now here. They were tossed out with her, as young kittens, by that asshole neighbor. Three of them are fixed, one isn't yet, because I'd run out of Poppa money before Thanksgiving and had to quit there until December. I was about to call Dee, when the family called and said she died the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
between Soda, Slurpy, Smoothie and Grasshopper - I think you are thinking of drinks here, Jody lol....this could lead to a multitude of names - gingerale, orange crush, dr. pepper, pina coloda, dacquari, cola, etc....
ReplyDeleteforgot to ask...what's going to happen to auntie annie? are you going to try to rehome her? she sounds very tame...like she deserves a nice home.
