Unbelievable!

The woman who adopted a kitten last August or early September, who was supposed to drop her off here a month ago or so, so she could be spayed, then never showed, finally e-mails again. She starts off that's she not really mad, but the cat has giardia. Well, she's had the kitten almost three months, and claims the vet says she has giardia because she came from a rescue. What a pile of baloney. this woman has had the cat for months, and now is blaming a common digestive infection on the fact the cat came from a rescue months ago.

So she tells me I should have all my cats checked for it, like I'm some dumbshit. Hey lady, if my cats get sick, I actually get them to a vet and get them treated. And if this kitten has been sick since she arrived, why in the world didn't she take it to a vet sooner? It's been months.

When someone adopts a kitten, their vet care is then their responsibility. Giardia is very common and the kitten likely got it there at her house, from one of her animals or kids, who may have failed to wash their hands.

For gosh sakes, that is very small of a person, to blame a rescuer months later. What it is, is passive aggressive behavior.

I told her to get her own cat fixed. I told her straight up I can't deal with passive aggression. I'm sick of the games, the drama, the failure to follow through with that spay appointment. I even made them a ramp for their dog who broke its leg.

I don't know if she is passive aggressive or a manipulator. She tells me in her e-mail that all her animals then had to have fecal tests for giardia. Yet giardia is rarely shed in feces, even in infected animals and notoriously difficult to detect.

If her vet suspected giardia in the rest of their animals, he or she would have just prescribed the meds. She gave me what this cost her, for the vet visit and fecal samples, in a manner as if she expected me to pay it and that it was all my fault. Then she played the good guy, and said even though the vet claimed it is a common infection in shelters, she didn't tell which rescue she got the cat from. I bet she didn't tell him she got the kitten three months ago either.

Such statements are common to passive aggressive people. But they are also common to manipulators, who think they can get money out of people, through guilt, or because someone might feel sorry for them.

Her dog broke it's leg, was at the vet, then she claimed a month or so ago, it had bloody diarrhea. Well there you have it. The dog brought giardia into the house.

So whether she is passive aggressive or trying to manipulate and take advantage of me, I don't know. All I know is what I told her, leave me alone, get your cat fixed, and I am unable to deal with her behavior.

The other kitten, the sister of this one, now weighs almost five pounds and is being spayed tomorrow.

I can see her hand stretching all the way down to your house..all over the new tiles....just waiting to be reimbursed for her expenses. good thing you nipped it now, otherwise, you'd be paying for life for that kitten's vet visits and illnesses....

  2. I've seen this sort of thing before. It look slike it came from a need to feel superior as a diversion to hide their own guilt at not getting the kitten seen by a vet in the first place. Well done Jody for sending her on her way.

  3. Seemed to me like a guilt trip play, to get that free spay, after she never showed for the last appointment. I don't know.
