Wonderful Surprise!

My vet, Countryside, discounted my bill, to under $150, for Miss Daisy. I could have cried! They are wonderful to me.

My morning started off delivering the six cats to the vet, plus Miss Daisy. Of the six cats, five are from Albany and four of the six were females. I had taken them all inside to check in, then was going to go get Miss Daisy, when I realized I didn't have my keys. I had set them down in the back of the car when hauling out traps, and closed up the car. They, along with Miss Daisy, were locked inside.

I sat down in the office to think about this. I asked the receptionist, "Do you have a slim jim on you?" She didn't, but called the vets house, to see if they did. They didn't either. I said "I thought everyone carries a slim jim." The receptionist said, "I did too." Then she smiled.

"What are you going to do?" she asked. "Oh," I said, "I thought I would just hang around here all day." She smiled again. It would be a very long walk back to my place, then I would have to break into my place somehow, without any keys to get in with, and that is virtually impossible.

For just such a scenario, I have distributed keys. One set was in Millersburg. I happened to remember the person's cell number. I called her. She was home, fortunately, and came right over. I was worried the car key she had of mine might be one I'd given her before a series of car break ins I had experienced, each time, I'd had to change the locks on the car. But, when I tried that key, IT WORKED! The car opened. I was saved.

Actually only one lock works now with one key. The car's lock system is a mess, due to so many break ins. Albany is infamous for car break ins. Usually, your window gets smashed, but sometimes they jimmy the lock or break out the door handle with the lock in it. What a pain in the butt it's been, trying to survive in Albany.

I hate theives.

So anyhow, then I had to get cat food and groceries. Took me awhile. I make some cat food now, because it's actually cheaper than buying canned cat food. I never thought I would see the day, but now I have. Today, an entire chicken at Winco cost about $2.50. An entire chicken! For the same money you could buy five 3 oz cans of cat food. Yeah. So, buying ingredients and making cat food is often more economical. I set aside one day for it, although I prepare the ingredients over several days, when I have the time. I cook the chickens in a slow cooker, then grind them up, bones included. I add other ingredients, and freeze it in small containers.

Anyhow, Eleven got a great home today! Yahoo. I am down to four of the fourteen Kitten Yard kittens. The home was with a great family in Corvallis!

My neck, face and shoulder nerves are totally inflamed and quite painful. Too much heavy work at that trailer park situation. I got so worn out I ended up having to crawl back up on the filthy trailer porch after setting a trap in the yard. But I got them all there, by cracky and hopefully my inflamed nerves will settle down. For now, it's back to ice packing my neck.

And in the meantime that helped me immensely, them giving me a break on Miss Daisy's bill. They said those teeth they pulled were so sensitive to her, that if they touched one of them, even when she was under anesthesia, her body would quiver. So that poor little girl was in pain and she hid it well, but not from me. Tooth pain isn't fun. I know about it. I had one that hurt me for six months before I could finally get it yanked out.
