Shoe Problems

About four years ago, I got a pair of Keen's. I've worn them almost every day since then. They're worn out. Holes in the bottoms, painful at times, to walk in, if I'm walking on gravel. I have trouble finding shoes that fit. I wear a women's 10 1/2 narrow.

A little over two weeks ago, I made the trek to Footwise in Corvallis, to get another pair exactly like these. I've been saving up for the shoes. Originally I tried on almost every shoe in that store, trying to find something that fit and was durable and this was actually the only shoe that did fit, or that was available in my size.

They didn't have them in my size this time. The clerk tried to get me to get a size 11 and I said "No thank you. May I order a pair in size 10 1/2?" She said I could and took my information and said they'd be in in two weeks and that they would call.

They never called. Finally, anxious to get shoes without holes in the bottoms again, I called them today.

They're not in. In fact, this clerk told me they can't even order individual pairs of shoes, but they have a shipment of them coming in sometime next week, and sometime after the 1st of September I should be able to come in and get them.

Huh?

This is a totally different story than I was given that day I made a special trip to Corvallis for the shoes. That's kind of a bunch of bull, in many ways.

Am going to try to find them elsewhere I guess. Because my feet are pleading with me by now to find a shoe solution. Those Keens lasted me for four years, wearing them almost every single day. I'll try to find them online, I think.

Well, maybe I'm not going to now. I mentioned awhile back that Miss Daisy has not been herself, having issues with a gurgling sound to her voice, sleeping too much, bad breath. I took her in today. She had to have three more teeth pulled. It's likely herpes virus caused, but I haven't picked her up yet, so haven't talked to the vet much about it. She had to have many teeth pulled when I first got her, after she was thrown from a car on Seven Mile Lane.

She was on a powerful antibiotic for three weeks and improved drastically later on. About a year and a half ago, she had to have another tooth pulled. This time, today, three more.

I don't know if it's still the herpes virus, which dries out tissue, depriving teeth of circulation and nutrition or the old bartonella that once horribly inflamed her mouth, don't know. I would guess the former. However, her teeth were all likely damaged badly initially, the shape she was in, and some have just lasted longer than others, from her initial horrible start to life with some foul human.

So, the cost today, under $200 but still, that's like a million to me. The shoe money is going going gone. I'll try patching these myself I suppose. Guess the shoes not coming in to Footwise is a moot issue now.
