Last Adult Caught at Kitten Colony

I caught the torti this morning, the last adult at the Vanman Kitten colony in the trailer park--cat number 17 caught there, the fourth adult, third adult female. He told me he feeds two all grays, both females, one of whom was fixed a year or more ago, by Spay Inc., and has right eartip. The other gray adult female was fixed last week. He told me he also feeds two torti's and a black male. The black male was fixed yesterday, the first torti, last week, the second torti, will be fixed today.

Besides the four adults, I've caught 13 kittens, with one to go. I saw him on the porch this morning. I have placed seven of the 13 kittens and one adult. This has been hard on my body.

The rest of the kittens are in my bathroom. Two of the six in my bathroom have a home to go to. The other four do not. I still also have Cajun, Wily and Sashi, and Robinhood, the big male from the Waverly duplex. Just caring for all these cats, along with my own, is a job unto itself. I am utterly exhausted.

An older man feeding a mom and four teen kittens in Albany called me last night. I should not have gone over, because of my exhausted state, but I did, thinking it would be easy to catch the adult female. He wanted to take the kittens in on vouchers to Rivers Edge. I set up the drop trap and waited. I was sitting in a lawn chair, and finally leaned my head against the gutter downspout pipe and dozed off. I was not at my best. The kittens ate under the drop trap but the female wouldn't come up from the back. I teased and teased her, trying to draw her out so I could net her. I was within a couple feet of her, but she was in a juniper bush and that is not a place you can get a net over a cat. I was frustrated, because I could not set a trap without the kittens, half tame, going into it.

I should have told him we'd have to catch them all at once, instead of wasting three hours there, when so tired and in such stomach pain, I was literally woozy from exhaustion. I finally left, told him "sorry, I'm not at my best". Came home.

I'll catch them tonight and when I catch that last kitten at the Vanman's place, that's it. Break time. Two weeks off. I can't really take a break when trying to adopt out kittens. If I don't find Cajun, Wily and Sashi homes soon, they'll be here forever, and I already have way too many. Way too many. They're driving me nuts.
