Someone called me tonight. They were sure I had their cat, Robinhood, the stray eartipped male from the Waverly duplex, after seeing an ad for him. Jake, was his name, lost a year ago on Waverly. Turns out, this woman is the daughter of the woman who lives across the street. She saw his photo online.
While waiting for her, I went outside. And, heard something the woman across the street must have said to her daughter, just after she arrived there, first, before coming over here. The daughter was promising her mother "not to take him back in". I thought, uh oh, she's going to deny this is her cat, whether it is or is not.
She came over and immediately said it was not her cat. Now I don't know if it is or isn't, after overhearing that.
Man, wish I hadn't heard it to begin with. The woman across the street doesn't like cats. She's told me that a lot of times. Now I'll probably be looking at her when I see her, wondering things.
I caught the mother cat of the four kittens fed by the nice old couple in Albany. Very cool. He lured her right into their house, where she was immediately attacked by their own fortress like spayed female. Afterwards, she hid behind the couch. I put a carrier back there and steered her into it with my net. Done. She'll be spayed tomorrow. Six cats fixed there.
The Lebanon woman caught her final female. 26 cats fixed there in less than a week. She's already found homes for five of the 18 kittens fixed at the Neuterscooter. She's very happy and I am happy for her.
I went back to the old Elm street problem district. This time, the Walnut street house with all the strays beside it, the people were home. So far, I've caught two. They feed 8 but one just had kittens and one of the males is fixed.
I also stopped by one of the houses where I've gotten four or five adults fixed, to see if the ten year old female's kittens were eating solid food. There are three, each with an eye glued shut with goo. A fourth kitten is allegedly from a stray mother I've not seen, and is extremely ill, with snotty nose, and runny eyes and this woman has agreed to hand over all four if I can find someone to take them. I hope I can find someone. Tehy're beautiful kittens.
So I'm wondering if this cat is the long lost Jake. Guess I'll never know now for sure. Again, I wish I hadn't overheard a piece of their conversation, the mother and the daughter, before she came in.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
