Roundup Day

I got my glasses at Costco and I love them. I can see so sharp and clear now, distance that is. But, my middle ground vision field is blurred now, if I wear them. I couldn't see that well distance or real close up, but I could see just fine in the middle distances, like from four to 15 feet. That area is now blurred, but, I look over the top of my glasses if I need to see in this area. Not a problem. I got clip on sunglasses for them today.

Didn't take me long to round up cats for tomorrow. I swung by the alleged collector, although she isn't a collector, scene of so much drama between neighbors a week ago. She has four females, but one is very very pregnant, so the other three females, and possibly a stray that shows up now and then, will be fixed tomorrow.

I stopped by a house where I was told a man wanted two females fixed. Yes, he said he wanted them fixed, but they were leaving Friday for the weekend and it wasn't clear anyone would even be around to feed the cats. I mentioned I would like to get the two kittens they have left fixed, and he became angry, stating that was the business of whomever adopted them, if they wanted them fixed or not. I calmly told him that I am trying to get the out of control cat population under control, and it would be helpful if I could fix those kittens, too. Again he said "no" with an attitude. I simply said then, remaining calm, "I am going to let you get your own cats fixed." And I made my escape.

The guy I believe may be an addict, had sores all over his shirtless chest and shoulders, like meth addicts often do. I don't know that he's an addict, but I thought, since he was getting upset, it would be best to get out of there.

The downtown district if full of unfixed cats. I drove by the house where I'd trapped the feral cat inside the house but they weren't home. I went up two streets and saw two young women sitting on a porch and I talked to them. One of them is getting a kitten from someone with one unfixed female who lives down on 1st. I gave her my card, to give the woman with the unfixed cat. I asked if there were unfixed cats on the block and they pointed down the road, to one house. I drove down and talked to that man, who is very nice. He has two unfixed females, one with kittens, and about five or six unfixed males. He didn't know anything about FIV, so I told him all about the disease and how prevalent it is in Albany, because so many people do not fix their males. He had to leave, someone was waiting to take him somewhere, so I gave him my card and he said he'd have his wife call me.

When I got home, I had a call from a Jefferson woman who had asked the vet for my number. She had three pregnant females abandoned nearby, and wanted help getting them fixed. And there was a call from a woman I'd seen post on craigslist with kittens. It was a friend of hers actually who called. She works unbelievable hours at two or three jobs, trying to make ends meet. She has two females needing fixed, then feeds two stray males, who need fixed. I told the friend I'd like to take in the two females, and one of the males tomorrow.

So anyhow, doesn't take long to find lots of cats needing fixed in Albany. I have regrets about not getting those two females done, where the man became obstinant, but I couldn't have taken them anyhow, since they will not be home for their recuperation. These are the type of folks who likely will never get those cats fixed.
