I am in one hell of a mood. I threw my damn phone out. I hate it anyway. I bought a simple phone awhile back, then never changed over. Now I can because the old mobile one that I can't even turn the ringer off of, because it was built by some "always be connected even if assholes call you at midnight" type mentality, is in the trash. Good riddance.
All day I tried and tried to get that garbage disposal that doesn't function off the sink, which has been plugged as a result. I can't get the disposal unit to rotate off the ring that comes down through the top of the sink with a lip up inside the sink. I need some special tool to help do that and I don't have it. So for now I will plug the sink drainpipe Tee that went to the disposal from then connects to the pipe draining the other side of the sink and have just the one side. Better than having a stopped up sink, however.
Doesn't matter that the dishwasher hose is disconnected because the dishwasher doesn't work anyhow.
Working under a sink is enough to hurt anybody's neck and shoulder, but with mine already bad, turned the day foul with pain. Hence, the mood.
The mood is also exasperated by the birthday shunning I got today.
The camera vacancy plagues me also. Someone sent me a camera they no longer used by mail, which was very nice of that person. I spent the last two days trying to make it work. When I first got it and turned it on, it said "card error" and would shut down immediately. I finally took the card out and it would act like it was taking photos, but they wouldn't read onto the camera's hard drive. I've tried everything I can think of. I had another smaller SD card that fit the camera, (my old camera took a larger size SD card) and when I put it in, it doesn't say "card error" but it still won't read to the card or the camera's drive. I don't know why.
So then I borrowed like a little kids camera from someone who doesn't use it. It's like two inches long and one inch high and the buttons are so tiny I have to use a ballpoint pen to push them, because my fingers are too big. I also have to use a magnifying glass. It takes a card the same size as the other camera. But I do not have a card reader for that size SD card, for transfer to the computer.
Nor do I have a USB cable with that size fitting for this camera. HOwever, if I take photos on this camera, then switch the card to the other, that has a bigger USB head fitting, I can download the photos from the card through the USB hub on that camera, but they look like crap so far. Not sure why. And, the camera takes about 20 seconds to store each photo after I take it before you can take another. Not sure why on that either, maybe just because it's a really cheapo camera?
Maybe somebody out there knows something about the reason the first camera will not write the pictures I snap with it to its memory or to a card or why the second camera takes forever and a day between photos even with fresh batteries and the photo size set to the smallest.
I can't believe how small they make these cameras now and the buttons! The buttons are so small I swear they are made for midgets. My hands are not exactly small and my fingers while not fat are very long. I can't operate these teensy little micro cameras without great difficulty.
But then I don't know how people text message on the tiny buttons of cell phones. I don't have a cell phone, except for one for calling 911 in emergency, that I carry. So, I hate to admit, I have never text messaged anyone, but I've watched kids do it on those little teeny weeny buttons cell phones have and they are made for midgets. I don't even know how kids afford to send so many text messages. I just don't. Must have rich parents or really good paying jobs or they don't have anything else, billwise, to pay.
Anyhow, the camera thing has been a great frustration. Neither camera are well suited to what I do, but I was hoping to get by with one or the other, until I can save up for a decent used better one.
I want to get one like the old one, exactly like my old one, which was very useful in that it had the 10x optical zoom and a rotatible LCD screen, which was very helpful for taking photos at floor level of cats in traps and being able to see what I was taking a photo of.
I shouldn't get attached to a belonging like that, but I was attached to that camera. I LOVED that camera. It was so perfect for what I do.
I guess I'm still very bummed and shocked about the loss of that camera. I'll get over it. I'll have to rename this blog however, since it won't include many photos anymore.
I took the five cats abandoned, along with more, up to the Lebanon barn home this afternoon. And I picked up the Hull Oaks Siamese, trapped today, in the trap I left with bait with the man who lives in the field. When I stopped by a few days ago, he hadn't set it for awhile. I gave him more bait and urged him to keep trying. The guy is quite nice, if you ask me, although he drinks beer nonstop, often popping the tops after pulling a can right out of a case in the back of his pickup--warm.
He caught her the first time he reset it. I knew he'd catch her in that location I put it, if he'd set it because she hangs out, unbeknownst to him, right under his camper. I had it nestled in between old gas cans and empty beer can cases underneath the front of the trailer. I knew that was the place to catch her after twice startling her out from under his trailer.
Today that observation paid off. The last Hull Oaks female is caught. If she is pregnant, then there is still an unfixed male out there. If she's not pregnant, then I'm done with Hull Oaks and I'm really happy about that.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I've never posted here, but I have read every entry you've made. I think you do an incredible job in one of the most thankless tasks, in apparently the most thankless city in the U.S. If I win this bid: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110229538691
ReplyDeleteIt's yours. It's a Kodak so it should hold together for a while, I hope. I didn't see what brand your old one is, but this camera looks pretty nice. Just wanted to brighten your day a bit, I really hope I get the winning bid. If not, I'll try again, hopefully with something more like your old camera. :)
(sorry for the deleted post, my first line had been erased)
I need to learn to use ebay. Well anyhow, that is a nice camera. How does that work? You're not going to be able to buy that in the end for $.99, right? That's just how you're starting? Do you do this a lot?
ReplyDeleteIf no one else bids, yep, I just pay $.99! However, it's $14.00 for shipping, so they probably make up for some of the loss in profit that way. (they charge WAY more for overnighting it). I've bid a fair amount of times as well as sold some things, so I've seen how both sides work.
ReplyDeleteEbay's not that hard to use, you just have to look at the sellers and see what they'll allow you to pay them with. Some only like paypal (which I don't trust) others will allow money orders, paying them over the phone with a credit card if they're a business, or personal checks. It's very important to see what the shipping charges are though. Sometimes they're just what they should be, other times they pad it like crazy if they know the item is going to go for a low price. (another camera I was looking at had a $50 shipping fee! Screw that!)
