Giving Up on the Sink

I have given up for the night on the sink. I"m filthy and frustrated. I did finally get the damn garbage disposal off, but only by twisting up the lip of the metal flange on the inside of the sink, all the way around, so I could pry it through the hole and let the garbage disposal finally fall. That wasn't easy. That metal is strong. I did it with pliers and a lot of grunting. Sometimes the pliers would slip off that metal and I'd slip then too. I have brand new scratches down my arms.

So it finally dropped through the hole in the sink and yay. Then I disconnected the wires inside the bottom and recapped them, once out. I already turned the thing off at the circuit breaker. The unit joined my phone in the garbage can.

But, I don't have enough PVC pieces to get it put back together. The dishwasher connection piece I got won't fit unless upside down, unless I cut a really short connector, which I don't have, so I thought, 'screw that, don't need a connector when the dishwasher doesn't work', but I still don't have the right mix of right angles and straights to cut them to hook up with the T connecting the other side of the sink's drain and the out pipe. So nothing is connected and I finally washed dishes in the bathtub.

Everything that used to be under the sink is all over the kitchen floor.

Then I had a brain vacation and turned on the water in the sink to wash something without thinking and flooded underneath. What a dead brain.

The last two weeks I've had a lot of appliances/electronics/gadgets up and die.

The garage door opener still halfway works. It works going up, but not coming down. Not sure what I'll ever do with that one. Seems to be circuitry causing the issue and that is not something I can repair.

So I am giving up on the sink tonight. I don't need a sink, really. At least I still have a working shower. Maybe I"m just worn out, but I am not seeing it as a problem. I'll get paper plates. The cats can eat on paper plates, too.

Today I also moved the big pile of old boards and little bits of this and that left in what may some day be the cat yard by the contractor guys. I just moved it out into the driveway. I"m not sure why. Seemed like progress.

  1. Do you have a large bucket? You could put it under the sink until you get the pvc, that way you could still do dishes in the sink and just let that water drain into the bucket, then toss it. Although with your back hauling a bucket of water around might not be the wisest idea...

  2. Yes, I have a large bucket and yes my back is killing me today. Working under a sink is the worst!

  3. They say bad things happen in threes. So Sink, garage door and camera. Should be clear sailing from her on out!

  4. Clear sailing. I need to rename my blog. Suggestions? Cat Fur? Cat Poop? I'm hoping it's only going to be the three things. My computer is making funny buzzing noises again. Cross your fingers on that one.
