I do need to get a move on. The old man of HTN has taken to killing nutria instead of catching the last three cats needing caught. His nutria kills frighten the cats away and he one day soon will be sorry he focused his efforts in that direction, instead of first catching those three cats. Kitten season is looming and all three cats left uncaught are females.
I was called by someone out off Spicer who has at least 15 unfixed cats. She was embarrassed to ask for help, since she has been highly involved with some local shelters.
Both Millersburg colonies have new arrivals, both from neighbors with unfixed pets. Millersburg Country colony folks are desperate to get the new arrivals fixed. They already feed about 20 cats. All were fixed, thanks to an effort on my part last summer, paid for by Poppa Inc. So far, they have donated nothing. I had also rehomed about a dozen or more kittens from that colony last summer. The caregiver is one woman, who lives in a trailer, and the grandparents who live up front in the house proper.
A granddaughter from a son lives in a camp trailer in front of the house. She is a bit on the lazy side so far, but everyone hopes she will buckle down and do something with her life. That is greatly needed now. The grandmother is ill with heart failure and other maladies. As far as I can tell, she is the only out there who does any of the work involved, with cleaning, cooking, caring for the property and maintaining a garden that helps supply them food. Other family members are going to have get off their butts and do some helping out. I feel sorry for that old woman.
I am attempting to create some new equipment, something that will make it easier for elderly or even just lazy teen caregivers to catch most cats in a colony at once.
