Broken Tree

The Maple tree out back got broke in the storm. One large branch split. The limb that broke off is hanging still from the tree, supported by other branches. The trunk it split off of will also have to be cut down.

That broken hanging limb is the one I attempted to snag last night, with my PVC pipe rig. I wisely gave up the attempt.

The storm created a mess on the coast. Wind gusts in one area exceeded 120 mph. Lincoln County has experienced a lot of wind related damage, but no injuries, fortunately. Tillamook County is again flooded, since it is so flat there. Waves along the Oregon coast, at one location, were 50 and 60 feet high. Wind gusts in the valley, fortunately, were limited to 45 to 55 mph.

In other news, a seed warehouse requested my help in trapping two or three cats for fixing that frequent the warehouse. I just went out and set a trap there.

I will also hope to catch the mother of the two kittens that KATA took in. They were being fed by a group of very nice older women, living in a senior only complex in Albany. The older women include Dr. Andersons' wife's mother. Dr. Anderson and his wife, also a vet, are the former owners of Countryside Vet Clinic. They have moved to Tennessee.

KATA's volunteer met me at the pullout in front of the homeless camp, to pick up those kittens. I was in Corvallis to return Homeless Richard cats and to attempt to trap any others out there not yet fixed, while most were contained. I was successful in trapping one more, a female, before I was ticketed for illegal parking by the Corvallis cops.

Whitey, the big white male, trapped about half mile from here, by someone feeding strays, last February or March, whom I then transported up to be fixed, has found me somehow and been hanging out in my yard, begging for food. When he showed up yesterday, in the middle of that storm, I invited him into the garage, where he remains, safe from the storm, and warm. He is a delightful cat, and possibly deaf. I am debating whether to put him up for adoption.

The 4th

Happy the 4th is over.   It's the fireworks.   They terrify some of my cats.  Not the old deaf ones.   Gigi hid under the cat stairs in...
