Non Barn Cat Material

Well, the good news is the already fixed girl from the rural road is doing very well.  She eats, sleeps and loves to be loved.

So I give her lots of love.

She is skinny, way low on weight, and perhaps older.   She is in no way barn cat material.   She's lap cat ready.

Her days need spent on a comfy blankee or someone's lap nights as they watch TV.

A post has been passed around by new owners of yet another place on same road.  Seems the former tenants left behind 14 or more cats, tame, just left them behind.   I don't know what is wrong around here the way people treat animals.  Pretty darn horrific.   A woman living south of Corvallis, I see on facebook, decided to help and took two of them so far home only to find out both are positive for FIV.  (Feline Aids).

No good deed goes unpunished.  But those former residents certainly should be punished for doing that to animals.  FIV is really preventible.  Fix your cats.

Over and over again people dump or abandon their animals around here and the number of people who don't fix their pets and cause such horrible suffering and costs to others is astounding.

No respect for life in these parts.  Or personal responsiblity values.   I think that's pretty much taught into people from parents.

I'd been contacted by an older woman (by that I mean older than I am and that doesn't include a lot of people anymore).   She is caring for five teens in a sheep barn.  I loaned her traps to feed in beforehand and she fed in them and then didn't feed this morning, so I caught them in about 15 minutes time.   When people do as asked, it works that way.   Few people do as asked.   So I appreciate this woman greatly.

Here are photos of three of the five teens.

Frosty, a girl

Snowball, a boy

Curious, a girl

I'll add photos of the other two when I get them taken.

That's it for today.

Happy, a boy

Slappy, a girl

And for good measure, here's Rosabell, from Sweet Home, a pregnant girl, spayed yesterday.  Too young to be pregnant!!!!   Now is no longer.  She is owned and the owners badly wanted her fixed but could not afford full price.

Rosabell was spayed yesterday at Rad in Corvallis.

After I met them on the highway to return her, I went to the trailer park to trap for Thursdays appoiintments but was feeling very ill.  Gas!   Then I remembered I'd weakened and got a Taco Bell box to eat the day before while I tried to catch the tabby left in Waterloo.  I hadn't eaten there in years.  And there's a reason for that.   Makes me sick everytime.  This time was no exception.  I feel a little better this morning.  I had to give up trapping last night though to come home and moan and groan through a difficult evening, until I finally just went to bed at 8:00 p.m.

  2. I know that people abandon animals everywhere. I wonder if it's worse where you live because you certainly see a lot of it.

    1. I'm not sure if its worse here or because I live here and get the calls, I know how bad it is here, but I don't necessarily know about other places.

  4. Too many people have no empathy. If they did, they would understand that others, including animals, have feelings, too. I'd say don't bother with the people that can't do as you ask them to. There is enough for you to do with those that pull their own weight. I hope you can find a home for that first cat. Sounds like she just needs her own humans.

    1. Yes I do have enough to do without killing myself to help people who don't even lift a finger when given the opportunity to get something solved fast. i just blacklisted a trailer park man in fact, who had an appointment for his big balls free roaming boy tomorrow and then ghosted the lady who arranged it not even responding when she was to get the cat. Who in the world flakes out on a free neuter? That's sheer stupid.

  5. Responsible folks are a treasure. It's a shame you don't see more around you. ~sigh~ Terra and Polly went to the vet this morning. Our mantra is "kitties first" when it comes to spending money and most other things. LOL I'd do the same for any pet and cannot understand how some people find them disposable. Grrr... Thank you once again for all you do. Hugs, my dear.

  6. Wow.. I didn't even know there was a feline aids. You are amazing to be doing what you're doing.. and people who can't take care of pets should not have pets.
