Another Year in the History Books

Today's just another day in a year labeled new.  It's all just numbers.   Humans obsessed with counting.

We just follow cycles of the sun and stars and weather patterns when the sun is at different angles to our personal space.

Sure its important when to know to plant what so it will grow and all that.

I started out this new numbered year by sleeping in and getting the garbage to the curb so it could be picked up today.

2026 will be the same, generally speaking, as 2025, in so far as the usual suspects will make the usual promises, distort truth, rip off others, con people.  People will die tragically.   Nothing much will change I'm sure.  There's a security in that thought.  Humans will be humans, always and forever, til some asteroid obliterates earth or something like that happens.

On that thought---Happy New Year!!!

Any reason is a good enough reason to party and shoot off some fireworks!  You're still alive, aren't ya?  That's the reason to celebrate.

  1. I pretty much agree--- But there's one huge change I'm hoping for next November. And, yes, I'm glad to be still alive. It never occured to me that I'd see 2026 when I was a kid.

    1. Me neither Bill. Can't even believe I'm still alive. When I wake up I think, "Wow, I'm still alive." And go from there.

  2. I feel similarly. I need to or I make this day mean so much more than it does.

  3. Yep. Life has been cycling on and off the same basic way forever. The sooner we accept that, the easier it is.

  4. Oh, I forgot to mention that the sweet kitty's name '13' was used in episodes of "House, M.D." I adored that series and all its quirks. House numbering his potential hires instead of accepting names was both weird and amusing. Best wishes to all in 2026!

    1. Oh I loved House, M.D. Best show. He was so quirky, non compliant, loved it. I didn't remember that part, of him numbering new hires.

  6. Refreshingly honest comments. Thank you for that. I just hope things don't get worse. Can they get any worse? I've been telling myself that they can't get any worse for a few years now, and then they do. Geez!

    1. Well it could worse, probably will, maybe will get better, you never know. You and I, and most folks, we have little say in anything really.
