No Photos

I forgot to take photos Thanksgiving Day.   I drove down to southern Oregon, bout 3 hours of driving to get there.   I went to my brothers house and arrived about 12:30 p.m.

It was a small group this time, since my SIL's sister and her daughter didn't come.   So it was the three of us, then Sil's step father, my nephew and his wife, plus their two kids.

Also my brother's long time employee, been with him through thick and thin, since he started his business when he was so young.  She came.  I love seeing her.

We had thanksgiving dinner about 2:00.   It was vegetarian.  Mashed potatoes, peas, yams, salad, rolls.   A light dinner.

I played games with my great niece and nephew (2 and 5 yrs old).  They finally went home.  Dad and mom were tired.   My brother then turned on a movie.  I fell asleep on the floor.  Left about 10:30 p.m. and drove the 3 hours home.   I don't mind driving in the dark at all.  I like it, in fact.

So today I spent catching up on sleep, and cleaning up after the cats.

  1. Long, boring freeway drives are better at night. (Unless the weather is horrible)

    1. So true, Bill. The freeway is the worst way to go anywhere, sooooo boring. If it had been daylight, I would have jumped off the freeway at the Drain exit, and driven along the beautiful Umpqua river to Reedsport, stopping at the Elk place for awhile. Or taken 99E into Junction City, headed west on 36, then south on Territorial down past Fern Ridge to Veneta, then route F (126) west to Florence and down 101. But I was in a hurry going, since I left late, and it was dark coming back, so scenery didn't matter.

  2. Sounds like a good day. Little ones always make things more fun and interesting. We had 4 little ones at our gathering.

    1. My SIL said same for her these days. So far, I still do fine and love it. My preferred time to be driving long boring freeways.

  4. Sounds like a nice Thanksgiving. I would be afraid of falling asleep on a long drive like that at night. Thanks for stopping by my place. I've missed reading about your adventures with the kitties!

    1. Well, I took that three hour nap on the floor with their cat. They'd put on a movie that put me to sleep instantly! After that I knew I would not be able to sleep anyway, and left. In other words, I was well rested prior to leaving to go home, thanks to a kitty who wanted to snuggle and a very boring movie.

  5. I don't like driving at night for fear of hitting any wandering animals, so you're braver than I. I'm really glad you enjoyed a nice visit. Be well!

    1. I get that but I was driving this time after the usual time animals like deer or elk are still out and moving around. Dawn and Twilight are the worst times for that. But still, am very cautious in areas where deer and elk are commonly crossing roads. I flick my lights from low to high and back often, too, to be noticed by animals near the road.
