Wednesday at Waldo Part I

 Last Wednesday was my last full day at Waldo lake Shadow Bay campground.

I made the most of my last day.   

I took the short walk out to Shadow Point in the morning.

We were taught as kids, as far as wild berry safety to eat:  Blue always, red sometimes, white never.   I don't know if that is actually true.

The dangerous tree that resulted in blocking off a prime campsite was cut down on Tuesday.  There's the stump and a bit of leftover caution tape.

Here's a couple of the downed pieces of the tree, now lining the trails.

There's a new fire popped up north of Waldo lake yesterday.   We're experiencing dry and wet thunderstorms currently in the Cascades.  This means many fires to spot and put out.  We now have fire spotting cameras to help with that.  Bless the wildland firefighters out there right now, engaging.

The wildland firefighters are tough and rough and rowdy (in my mind), fit as fiddles, strong, brave, fearless....facing steep rugged terrain, heat, heavy loads, tiring work, bees, terrified and burned wildlife.....they should be paid in accordance.  I hold wildland firefighters in reverence because of how tough they are, to do that job.
