Very Sad

Linn County Parks made an announcement today stating the Whitcomb Creek Campground boat ramp is now closed for the season due to low reservoir levels at Green Peter.  Thistle Creek low water boat ramp still open.  I wonder if they'll have to refund campers money, who made Whitcomb Creek camping reservations believing they could put their boats in at the campground boat ramp.

That explains how they brought Foster Reservoir back up to near full pool.  But it won't stay there if Green Peter is that low already.  This problem is a direct result of the fish group lawsuits to require the extreme draw downs combined with not allowing reservoirs to fill til mid May.  It's tragic for those of us who love the water.   Also a terrible blow to Sweet Home economy.   Those folks who sued don't even live around here though and don't care what they do to Linn County.

    1. Everyone around here is upset about it, who uses the lakes for all reasons. The fishery is pretty much gone after the first deep drawn down killed all the fish. Water supplies also affected all the way down to where I live, since we all drink that water. Anyhow......

  3. Oh that's genuinely sad news about the boat ramp closure. It's tough when nature and regulations impact local economies and recreation. I feel for the campers and the community. www.melodyjacob.com

  4. I wonder what would happen if enough people who now can't put in at Whitcomb Creek raised a huge stink?

    1. It's a complicated thing. The corp has been sued over it but its not their fault. Three groups sued the corp in federal court somewhere and got the injunction to force the corp to do the deep draw downs and last minute before summer fill ups. So who does one sue, or complain to? The only ones responsible are three weird groups, one who is against all fish other than native natural born fish, one some strange group based in AZ, and the other I can't recall. Plus one federal judge somewhere.

  5. I'm so sorry. Some people just don't care about others. That's very clear.
