I thought it would be good not to slump into depression over Slinko's end.
And honor his memory, living as a stray as he was, when I caught him, among a colony of wilder cats. He'd been left by someone, discarded, was unwanted. I'm honoring him with an extreme effort to stop overpopulation, and get cats fixed so owners aren't as likely to toss them out if they spray mark or fight.
So I went to extremes with the very large colony for tomorrow's FCCO clinic. I went all out. In honor of Slinko.
However, I now have 21 cats in traps and 4 in a large cage, all in my garage.
Oh boy. Five of the 25 will be fixed Tuesday at the new Corvallis spay neuter clinic. the rest are getting fixed tomorrow, then returned Sunday morning. Yay!
I'm excited over a spay neuter clinic over in Corvallis, but its not cheap for ferals. In fact, it's even more expensive by a bit than the previous clinic where I was taking ferals. At this one all cats, feral or tame, male or female, cost $100 to be fixed. At their previous clinic, feral males were $75. Can't take many in there, with HCC's budget. But sure is nice now and then!
However it is far cheaper for people's tame cats and for dogs, rabbits too, than regular clinics. They only will do surgeries and tell people to keep their regular vet for all else. So it is a great addition to the mid valley.
For ferals, I'll still be making the trips to Salem and Portland.
Here are a whole lot of photos! 25 cats in fact. Don't get confused! Don't say they all look alike!
Thank you so much for the important work you do.
