It may be a never ending number of cats up that darn remote road.
Two more were caught last night.
The trapper brought them here this morning. But actually they're known to me, even though I've never seen them. When I thought of interactions with people who had been up there since the first week of November, the 5th or 6th, when it was posted about, I remember bits.
Like the lady who told another lady she saw two brown tabbies run off behind the bathroom. Peter Green and the latest tabby, a girl, Petunia I'm calling her, must be those.
As for the black one caught near Thistle Creek....after I saw the tabby kitten run across the road near there, a woman and her husband, looking for the kitten, saw a black cat run across the road there. Ahh.. Caught last night.
So I don't know how many are left, but due to snippets and game cams, I know of at least three left in three places. We may be near the end, but you never know.
Here's Petunia. Isn't she beautiful? She's also tame, but was very starved and dehydrated and immediately ate two can of wet food, drank a lot of water, then conked out asleep.
The big reunion I imagined between her and her seemingly obvious closest relation, Peter Green, did not happen. She was too tired to be bothered with anything but eat then sleep.

No, she is not decorated for Christmas. The trapper lady had decorations from work still in her vehicle.

Here'sa the black one, who is currently in the garage in a cage, since from a slightly different locale along that road. I don't know how tame or not tame that one is. I've been gone since about noon.
After I got them set up, a coworker of the trapper lady came to meet Peter Green and Chaca. Chaca acted really shy but Peter was his extrovert self fortunately, despite the addition of new cat Petunia not long before Shawn came to visit. Shawn will take both Chaca and Peter home Monday evening. I was so happy he liked them I could have danced around the room.
Chaca will be fixed Monday along with 4 other Quartzville roadies. I have three of the unfixed ones while a Sweet Home lady has two. Then all the ones we have, waiting for homes, will be fixed.
I left then with Patricia, a local friend, and an ex of hers. We went over to Lebanon and a fundraiser for Keithas Kitties. They were selling cat toys and showing off adoptible kittens in the back of a pub. They got a dollar on every pint bought too, so we each bought one and a few cat toys and sat around a few hours laughing about everything on earth. It was a very good time.
Driving on the way home---another rainbow!
I got the outside Christmas lights up. Now, to get my tree up.
Yup. Oh gosh. More cats. But we are getting to the end, I just feel it. And by Monday evening, ten of the ones caught will already be in homes and that's pretty darn good I think.
Ten already in homes by Monday is better than good. It is excellent.
ReplyDeleteI like that t-shirt logo. A lot.
I don't know where she got that shirt. She is fun! I think getting that many homes so fast is darn good, too, thanks!
DeleteSplendid. I do like the slogan on your friend's tee shirt.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Elephant's child. Ten already in homes is excellent! I like your lights. If the weather cooperates, we'll get our lights up today.
ReplyDeleteIt's been faster than I could have imagined, to get that many into homes. But its not been me. Some of the Sweet Home ladies have been unbelievable in finding them homes with friends and coworkers and then Silverton Cat Rescue came to the rescue and found a barn home for three together. I only trapped 7 I think of these cats, maybe it was 8. And then my nonprofit is getting all of them fixed. I held five, who all got homes, and now have six more, two of whom will be in a home soon. I think its actually 11 will have homes because the lady holding one of the Siamese boys I believe will keep him. Anyhow, I've lost track. I'm hoping to get my fake tree up today.
DeleteGood work! I am amazed that the cats are finding homes so quickly.
ReplyDeleteMe too. Its really wonderful. But its not me doing it. It's several Sweet Home ladies who are just a joy.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear you're almost at the end of that group. Although, don't say that too loudly, because then another group of cats will materialize...
