Two More Screeching Phone Fire Alerts

I was driving when the emergency alert on my phone began screaming.   Freaked me out!

I pulled over and grabbed my phone out of my purse to see what the alert was about.  Wildfire!

This one is south of us, right near the interstate freeway, just east of it, kind of east and south of Harrisburg, but in this county.

The state began a new be ready strategy with fires, where resources are in place in several places so they can be quickly deployed.  On this fire, really fast, there were planes dropping water or retardant and helicopter water drops, probably within an hour.   It might be still spreading but the rate the departments get on top of these fires now is astounding.  They killed a brush fire south of Sodaville last week, held it to 30 or 40 acres.  Did the same out Quartzville road with a brush fire in old growth, held it to I think 100 acres.  I have no doubt they'll stop this one fast too.

Our state now also has wildfire spotting cameras out in the forests.  They want more.  They're really effective.

But anyhow, I sure can hear the alerts on my phone. They're that loud.  I like that.   Its' reassuring that the warnings come and that I will hear them.

I went and caught the two kittens and mom I spotted yesterday morning when on the way to the FCCO.  Another woman had found where they hang out and left food last night.  They were easy to catch tonight.  Took maybe 20 minutes to get all three.  They are in my bathroom now and they will need a home.

I am putting off catching the mom and her five kittens tomorrow in Lebanon.  I'll have only two more spots Monday and will go over there Sunday and get two.  The rest can be done a week from Monday.

Here are the jail birds:   I mean jail cats.....

This is mom.  She's very cute, with one flopped over ear.  They're all so hungry.

Here's the kitten I saw yesterday morning

And the second kitten

It's still summer here and my sunflowers bloomed!

Let's hope no more fires pop out this weekend. It's going to be in 90's three more days I guess.   There's a big country music festival going on up in Sweet Home.  I stay away from the lake til all those folks are long gone.  It's just too insanely crowded and crazy up there right now.

My most obviously struggling cats now are Shady and Sam, the oldest two.    I love them both, although Shady still doesn't let me pet her.   I know neither will be around too much longer.   Shady loves chicken so I went and got her some yesterday and cooked it this morning.

There's lots of prettiness in your garden and your sunflowers look so good this year.

    1. I think the state is learning, on the fires. I went for the haphazard look this year, with the sunflowers and flowers, no straight lines, no plan, but they're beautiful.

    1. We've had no rain but instead of 90's this last weekend, it was overcast. No one was expecting that. It cleared up some yesterday afternoon. Cloudy again today.

  6. Stay safe, my dear! I'm glad for the fast action against those fires. Those 'jail cats' are so cute. Best wishes to them. And thanks for commenting that you've had issues with kitty harnesses. I felt like a bad person for letting that happen. ~nods~ You're right that cats are like liquid. lol Be well!

    1. Miss Daisy escaped hers at Pet Day, over at the OSU vet college one year. Just suddenly she was out of it. Man alive did my heart flip flop. Tons of dogs there, massive number of people, but before she knew she was free of it, I had her again and off we went home.

Long Interesting Night up Quartzville

I went back up, as you probably would guess I did. I stayed all night up there, leaving at 7:30.  I never caught the last cat, but I caught...
