Cold

 I caught a cold.

I haven't had one in quite some time.  I felt something coming on, as early as four days ago, but wasn't until the afternoon two days ago, I got a sore throat.  It started on one side and quickly went to the other.

Hmmm, I thought, that's how I've always had colds begin.

Yesterday it kicked in and I spent the day going through boxes of kleenex and napping.  I searched online for the fastest way to rid oneself of a cold.  Top two answers were lots of rest and lots of fluids.  Forget the Vitamin C or Zinc, just sleep and drink.  I think by drink it meant water.  Not say margaritas.

So that's my strategy since I want to trap this weekend.   Also I'd like to go to the Scottish festival Saturday at the park, although the weather will be cold, in the low 60's, and maybe some rain. I don't have Covid, at least. I tested myself with one of those kits the government sent for free.  Why not, I thought, use one of these dang things.

A little dog came running up my driveway then back down and to each neighbors house, then off it zoomed.  Fast little bugger.   I posted his or her photo on the lost and found pets site for the area.   Seems he'd been seen a few blocks from here a little before that too.

Hope the little guy gets back to his people.

Yesterday was pleasant in temperature and I might have gone to the lake had I not been sick.   I'm not sure they haven't lowered the reservoir down to its usual unusable state by this time of year, however.

I feel much better today even, than yesterday, but I know how colds go--get worse, get better, come back, all that.

I'm doing the least I can do, for a few days.

  1. I hope you get over your cold quickly - and that Captain Zoom returns to his family.

    1. Captain Zoom was very very quick and also looked well cared for, so I hope he found his way home.

At least you don't have man flu, so you should quickly recover. The Scottish festival sounds like fun.

    1. Man flu, had to look it up, and see that its now backed by science. I want to go to that festival Saturday, Andrew, has all kinds of interesting things I've never seen before.

  4. I find that when I get sick is the only time water is too plain for me. That's when I want juice.

I hope you feel better soon. Colds are the worst, especially when you have other plans.

    1. I'm much better today, but still trying to take it easy so I won't be sick at all this weekend, when I have plans. I make smoothies from bananas and 7-up if I have any and I like those, or with yogurt and bananas. Bananas are still really cheap here, so consequently they form a large part of my diet these days. They turn into great smoothies though.

  5. Getting ill like that is no fun. And I think sore throats/head aches are the most miserable in that regard. A smoothie with 7-up is an interesting idea! I have a post pending about smoothies. Alas, I lost some photos somehow. ~sigh~ My next goal is to try recovering them.

    Best wishes, my dear.

    1. I've never suffered from headaches except after my neck was injured and until it was fixed a year later. That was a year I don't want to ever repeat. I don't know how migraine sufferers get through it. I do love smoothies of all kinds, so can't wait to read your smoothie post. Oh no, where did your lost photos go? Last time my computer crashed I lost half of my own cats med records and had to recreate some of them by memory. I couldn't find them anywhere or figure out how to get them back.
