Neighbor Cats in My Garage

I decided to find out what in the world was going on nights in my garage.   Seemed like enough noise that someone might be holding a party inside.

I'd gone out into the garage in the night after hearing a thump, and watched a whitish cat slink away like a guilty teen when his parents crash an all night party house.

I set up the game cam.

The usual suspects showed up.  Gigi, above, whose real name is Butters and whose real home is behind me, facing the other block.

Fluffy Butt, above, also showed up on the game cam.  I got him neutered for the neighbors behind me a few years ago when they wouldn't get it done even after I showed them a photo of him, blocks from their house, engaged in a face off with three other unfixed males.

They showed me their old calico and the cat below isn't it.  They said the one in this photo below is likely one belonging three houses down one street over.   Was nice to find that out.   And the two flamepoints might be living next door to her, she thinks.    It's obvious they're all owned cats.

Old long hair

The fourth cat squatting in my garage nights is that flamepoint, with the collar and ear tip I first trapped last January, when after Phantom, who had escaped my snow collapsed cat yard.

I don't have any idea whose cat he is, or even if he has an owner anymore.

So there really is a party going on in my garage at night.   And its all free loading fixed neighbor cats.

They come for the free food, the cushy futon and the catnip.  I suppose they probably sit around telling exaggerated tales and laughing over human stupidity while they take advantage of me.  Sounds about right.

  1. They are no doubt very grateful for somewhere warm and comfortable to go. And food is a bonus.

  2. When the cats enter your garage, they know that they are among friends both feline and human. Who wouldn't want to come to that party? :)

    1. Yeah and at least I know they're all fixed. the neighbors who own the long hair calico had told me years ago she's fixed and also Butters (a.k.a. GIGI). Then I got Fluffy Butt fixed and the flamepoint with collar has a right ear tip, which is so helpful in knowing he is fixed too. I did not get him fixed, not from my yard at least, but someone did.

  4. They've found a safe place. Cats can go so far afield.

    1. Well three of the four have traveled ever so far---like about 30 feet, from their owners backyard to my garage, so.....not really a long distance ordeal for them, lol.

Younger Crowd

Besides the mostly very elderly cats here, a younger crowd provides entertainment.  For the most part, they're happy healthy and insane...
