I went to the lake!
My friend wouldn't go with me, said "Too cloudy and cold." True.
It was cloudy and at times not so warm, I'll call it. I'm not sure we made 70 degrees today around here and it was lightly raining just after I got home.
I couldn't wait any longer.
The lake was oddly nearly empty of people outside of a here and there fisher boat. There are two side by side boat ramps at the parking lot where I normally put in, but one side was clogged in drift and not usable. It might have taken a couple people half hour, if willing to get wet, to clear that all out but I thought "I don't even need a boat ramp, not my problem." I'm way too eager to problem solve sometimes.
Huge rocks had been moved to block vehicle access to the small beach area by the ramps. My friend won't like this as when we go to just swim and sit on the beach, she likes to park there because its darn hard to find parking at that particular place, for cars without boat trailers.
The whole lake was fouled in floating drift. Some of the logs I found in the middle of the lake were HUGE! Not my problem I repeated to myself. I go slow and can avoid drift. So can the fishers.
I found other interesting out of place items, like this dock float.
It had come loose and was way up against the point rock shore. Make a nice little tie up for a kayak.

This bucket had a tight lid and was half full of something. I didn't touch it otherwise, since I figured it might be the bathroom bucket from some boater. |

Pretty, eh? |
My first lake trip of the summer. Not a day you want to jump in the lake to cool off. I did get cool, sitting in water in the kayak. A little too cool, but no problem. Next week we might have a couple nice days at least, mid week again. I threaded the needle today, with the weather. It was too cloudy, with a bit of drizzle this morning, but I didn't get rained on while up there. It rained almost immediately after I got back, however. The rain is back now and we'll be getting soaked for the weekend I hear. What else is new. Ha.
I am so glad that you got to go to your happy place - even covered in flotsam and jetsam.
ReplyDeleteI had such fun, like a little kid.
DeleteI guess one of the benefits of the gloomy weather is that it helped keep the crowds away from the lake. It looks like an interesting trip.
ReplyDeleteThat's true--gloomy weather plus lots of drift on the lake equals a great time! No crowds.
DeleteIt looks like a lovely day.
