The weather turned south yesterday. Wind and rain!
We were warned by weather people we might be awakened by pounding rain or even thunder, and something did wake me in the night, but it was just the pounding rain. I like to witness a good thunder and lightning storm.
More snow in the mountains too, up to two feet.
I slept a good part of yesterday, being worn out by the two days prior, of being out too late Friday night, despite the slim chances of catching anyone but the torti in the pouring rain. Then Saturday I returned all the cats, and did clean all the traps and do all the cage laundry, along with doing a lot other cleaning.
When the torti got home, with Karen, who trasnported her, around 6:00, I set her up for the night, with not only food and water, but a couple socks with handwarmers stuck on them. The cats love that after surgery. So much so I need to get another box of them because I've used up almost all 50 in the box I had.
I got turned around on days too, because usually I only have spay neuter spots on Monday, so I had to tell myself repeatedly it wasn't Tuesday, or Wednesday, over the weekend. Funny how we fall into a rut of automatic thinking.
Slinko and I are headed off to the vet this morning for him to have another go around in his mouth. I"m not sure what is wrong, maybe a bad canine. He cries out when eating, mainly if he tries to eat dry food, and even when I accidentally touched the front of his mouth when I was petting him. He was easy to get into a carrier this morning. I just scruffed him when he came on the bed for pets and pushed him into one.
Before the rains hit I tried to clean up some out in the cat yard. The little kids behind me were out playing and they never play without high pitched constant screaming. It is a little sad I can't enjoy my own yard with the screaming and sometimes fighting behind me. I'd need to be deaf to enjoy my yard. Out front now its the same thing with the little kids from the end racing up and down the street on their various electronic toys, scooters and even a small toy electric car. They use the street as their private playground, screaming and fighting too. I like kids ok but there's only so much high pitched screaming I can take.
I need to find somewhere to have some peace, but I don't know where around here.
Good luck with you and Slinko. I sooo hope that a solution to his pain can be found. And I hear you on the high pitched screaming. A near neighbour owns a screamer. He also revs his car at incredible decibels and I can hear him coming because of the 'music' blasting from his car. I think he is deaf. I am not.
ReplyDeleteThe high pitched screaming is ear piercing. It's going on right now out back again. Slinko has no mouth cancer and now bad teeth. However his lower lip on one side is badly inflamed, almost like a burn. Vet doesn't know what could have caused that, but gave him pain meds and antibiotic. She thinks it might be an allergic reaction to something, hope not his food because its too hard to feed cats seperately here.
DeleteIt is great that he doesn't have cancer, and hope his poor mouth isn't the result of an allergy. And that the antibiotics and pain meds help.
DeleteIt is nice to hear the sound of children playing. It is not nice to hear them screaming. I don't remember kids squealing and screaming when I was young.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why its so common now that kids scream all the time. Only kids from two households do it, the other kids nearby play with just giggling and laughter. not the screaming.
DeleteWhat is it with kids and screaming? Every single elementary school playground I've encountered has at least one (generally more than one) screaming child. Every single day.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is. The pair in back scream pretty much all day every day when in their backyard. Those high pitched ear shattering screams. It is driving me crazy and I don't know what to do about it. I hear screamers in grocery stores now too, and I don't get that. Normal parents would not be talking to their kids like they're equals, but just march them out. That must be fun with the playground screamers. I have no idea why now they are everywhere. There are some young girls down the block who never scream, just laugh or giggle and are so pleasant, but now there's one household of screamers on the block and one behind me and I can't even stand to be outside here anymore.
DeleteI know what you mean about loud kids. While they make me happy seeing them outside versus on their indoor devices, I don't appreciate the noise. Our neighbors shout to one another over the sound of motors. I think some kids scream because their parents don't pay attention. :( Be well!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any clue. I've been in houses where you cannot communicate either because of screamer kids or constantly barking dogs.
DeleteWell turns out its quite an issue--shrieking constantly kids, these days, driving many many nearby neighbors nuts who turn to the internet not knowing where else to turn. Kids can play without the high pitched shrieking, turns out, but it takes parental intervention and the parents behind me are pretty sketchy on any sort of parenting. In fact, during the summer, there's often adult fighting adding to the racket. I either figure a way to get some peace and quiet, abandon any enjoyment of my yard or move, something I don't have the money to accomplish. So I still don't know what to do. I'll try to get a video with the noise as soundtrack, so you too can enjoy high pitched shrieking.
