Two Nice Days

We had all that rain and wind.

Now we get two nice days.  It was low to mid 60's yesterday.  Today it may hit 70 degrees.

But then......yikes, cold front comes in and snow level may drop to 500 feet.

So today is our second day and I will enjoy it.

Yesterday I mowed the backyard, which was not easy since it was nearly ten inches tall.   Took awhile to plow through it.

There's not much in my yard anymore, except that butterfly bush.

The upside down black thing is a plastic pond someone gave me free.   I am either going to use it as a tiny swimming pool for the summer or, upside down, hoisted to cat yard wire height, inside the cat yard, to provide an out of rain/sun spot for the cats.  I'll just cut out some wood the shape of the deeper middle part, attach some 8 foot posts and push it up against the wire from underneath.

Since its black and would absorb heat, I probably will not use it as a tiny swimming pool.  The cost of water to fill it is too high anyhow.  The deepest part of it, in the middle is less than 2 feet, so not much enjoyment could be had anyhow, using it as a pool, being so shallow.

I have six FCCO spots tomorrow and my Lebanon friend will take them up again.   I only caught four last night, however.  There was a lot of cat drama in the parking lot late.  An in heat female was shamelessly prancing about.   At least four males engaged in brawling, so that a couple younger less aggressive boys vanished if they went near a trap and spotted a big boy.  Then they'd run for their lives.

This colony comingles with two other already fixed nearby colonies, so they roam a large area, and probably eat at those colonies too.  This makes trapping hit and miss and a lot of luck.

I caught a teenage torti, the third torti I've caught there now.  I caught a black tux medium hair teen.  I caught a big orange tux boy and I caught that in heat girl.   There are at least four, but probably  more, left to catch.

I still need to catch this teen boy.  He's darling.  His torti sister, behind and to the left, is now caught.

In heat young female on the left, and now caught, and her latest adoring boyfriend, not yet caught, to the right.

How beautiful is she?  Well, she'll be fixed as of Friday.

How will I enjoy a near 70 degree day?  Before the snow comes?  Lol, we won't get snow here on the valley floor.  Laid back in my zero gravity lawn chair out in my driveway, that's how.

  1. We're having a string of cold and rainy days with a warmup not expected until next week. But, thank goodness, no mention of snow!

Have you thought about making a planter out of the pond to plant some veggies?

    1. Wouldn't I have to drill drainage holes in the bottom, ruining it for any other later use?

  2. Catching that young girl in heat might make the next trapping expedition to that area a little easier. And has saved her from being made pregnant (probably, unless someone got in early). Well done.
    Enjoy your sunny day.

    1. Let's hope so. I sure want to catch the two biggest boys. The orange tux is one of the big boys and I caught him, but he doesn't like to fight.

  3. The orange guy is adorable! I'm a sucker for orange tabbies. It sounds like you caught the girl just in time. We have colder weather coming in, too, which I'm not looking forward to.

You hope snow doesn't fall in the valley.
The ginger cat has a very large coat.

    1. Ha! Well, if its going to snow, I wouldn't mind it. Anything but the gray and rain.

  5. Can we trade? I'll gladly take your 70s (or even your cold and rain), if you'll take our 101F temp from today. Eeek.

    1. Seriously 101 already>? Yikes! But....you're talking to someone who didn't mind the 116 day here last summer. Except my sandals melted. I've been in extreme cold. Lived in Alaska in a shack when it was nearly 55 below. And extreme heat. I don't mind either. Its the constant drizzle and gray and 40 to 50's here we endure months on end and sometimes through the summer, although not so much lately.
