13 Caught Quickly

I caught 13 cats quickly at the big Lebanon colony.

I meant to take food up to the Sweet Home quarry cats, but delivered two bags instead to Lebanon, then realized I"d left my bait bag behind.  I had planned to deliver the cat food to Sweet Home, then on the way back, trap the Lebanon cats.

Instead I went home, unloaded the food, loaded up three more traps, had lunch and finally headed to the Lebanon colony.

I didn't think it would go so fast.  But it was fast and furious.

My only problem was the ones I'd already taken to be fixed kept trying to get into the empty traps, particularly Pastel, who is so sweet and gorgeous.  I finally left her in a trap, til I had no more empty ones, then let her out and set that one.

There are many more than 15 unfixed cats there.  However, it was quite interesting to see several with ear tips whom I had not taken to be fixed.   Apparently a neighbor has taken some in.

I watched males take turns on young females.   The big boys didn't fight, just waited and took turns.  Two females had urine on them, like they had been territorially marked by the big males.

I caught several of the big males, a few inbetweens and some younger ones.

A friend in Portland is networking to try to find barn placements for some of them at least.

The woman is overwhelmed.

Short hair tabby tux adult male

Big Himilayan male, although fairly young

This big gray tux long hair male is easy going.   He got a home on the way home from the clinic.  It's an excellent home.

Flamepoint male

Big semi matted long hair black and white male.   This boy didn't make it back.  End stage FIV.

The brown tabby tux male was mating when I arrived with a long hair brown tabby tux.  I caught two long hair brown tabby tuxes and hope one is that girl.

I didn't catch yet the big huge black and white male in the video above, nor the medium hair torti point girl being mated.  But I did catch the Himilayan male.

She only got 15 spots for Friday.  Today I'll catch two more there.

I caught two long hair brown tabby tuxes, hopefully at least one being the female under the short hair brown tabby male, in the photo above the video.  I did catch him.

This brown tabby tux long hair is a girl.

Number two!  The second brown tabby tux long hair is a boy.

Caught a short hair black young one.  She's a girl.

And this young dmh who is a male.

Also this very young torti point mostly white, girl of course.

This is a young chocolate point Siamese female

This is Hissy.  Not only is she a girl, but a very sweet girl.  So she is next on the list to find a home for.

And finally, got this young black and white girl

So those are the 13 I caught yesterday afternoon in the space of a little over two hours.  This afternoon I'll go back to catch two more, to fill out the 15 spots.    In addition I have three spots Monday for this colony.  So we will at least take a large chunk out of the ones left needing fixed there since already I took 8 from here to be fixed and someone has gotten a few more done.

This is Pastel, whom I took to be fixed in December of last year.  She was the one who went into traps until I left her in one, took her inside the lady's house, then released her only when hers was the only trap left to use.

Chow hound Pastel, who is lovely

  6. All work you do for feral cats and such. I have to wonder if your area is higher than normal.

    1. You might be surprised how bad it is many places. Education levels generally have something to do with if an area has a lot of unfixed cats. So does poverty level and availability of affordable spay neuter.
