Santiam Rising

I took the video above yesterday.  The river's coming  up at the park.    Not too bad though, not like other bad years so far  The river level is dependent on how much water is let out from the dams up river.

When the park floods it floods from the river side and from the low side below the dike trail.  The dike was built when it was a farm field to keep the river out of town.  Then when it became a park, the trail now tops the dike on the town side of the park. The center of the park, between the dike and the river, including the camp ground, usually is high and dry even if the low area around the edge, below the trail, becomes part of the river itself, flooding the dog park and flowing out back to the river near the park entrance and across the entrance road.

Anyhow, we shall see.  By Christmas night, the snow level is supposed to start dropping and end up valley floor level by Sunday.  We shall see on that too.

As luck would have it, I have five spay neuter spots Monday and I sure would hate to waste them.  The clinic might close but I wouldn't know it, because they wait til last minute to see if things could change.  So I might trap five cats and be ready with them, and get notified the clinic won't be open.  Then what?  Keep them confined until I can find a way to get them fixed somewhere?  I don't have reservations again til mid January.

I hate to waste reservations, however, in case none of this forecast snow actually arrives, which is a very very common occurance here (inaccurate wishful thinking forecasts).  So I'll probably go after some cats.  And find a way to deal with the consequences of the clinic closing Monday, if that even happens.

    2. Yes, but with only good intent. ~hugs~ Yours benefit so many countless animal and, dare I say, human lives. I seem to recall a little girl you helped inspire on feline rescue. Best wishes and be well!
