I'm sad for the cats in my bathroom. Got notice the clinic is cancelled tomorrow but I can take them in Tuesday, so won't be too long for them.
We got about 5 inches of snow. Some of it melted. Roads were fine. But now its snowing again and it will get very very cold tonight, down in the low 20's and that means ice and maybe power outages if trees come down. I guess that's why they cancelled the clinic--the ice possibility because the roads are fine.
So have to deal with it. This morning I tried to repair the cat yard wire, which collapsed in several spots due to the weight of the snow. I whacked at the snow atop the wire from underneath, so it would fall through. Then I had to rezip tie the broken parts together from underneath. My fingers would freeze and I'd have to go inside to warm them up before going back at it. I do not have cold weather gear. I used to. My shoes would get wet too. I finally used the last bit in a can of waterproofer, for one pair. I can't wear them til tomorrow morning, as a result, but maybe it will help. They are not made for wet or snow. So many shoes now have mesh on the top part. Why? In Oregon? No clue. They're useless in winter. Its tough to find tennis shoe type shoes that don't have that stupid mesh. Pet peeve of mine.
This morning's snow extravanganza |
Snowing again tonight, and all that snow on the roof and in the gutters will freeze tonight. I wonder if the gutters will fall. |
I woke up about 1:00 a.m. this morning, to see there was snow. There was lots more by morning. |
This too was early this morning, when I woke up. |
I took the above video later in the day. Some snow had melted by then. I was worn out from working to restore the cat yard. My shoes and socks had gotten soaked, so I took them off is why I'm in sandals. Moments later I was in bed finally napping.
That's life. We may get snow later in the week too, but tonight, we just have to hope for no power outages from downed trees due to snow laden branches freezing. I also hope my gutters don't end up on the ground, for same reason. Snow is heavy. Frozen snow---even heavier.
I finally pulled the smallest kitten from her trap, to check sex and weight (only my food scale turned out to have finally quit). I gave her KMR by syringe. She's a wild thing who will tame super fast. Three of the 7 cats are now loose in my bathroom and soon two more will be. Not fair to hold them longer in traps. My holding cages won't fit in the house anywhere, and it will be way too cold in the garage tonight. On the upside, its so pretty. I drank too much coffee Saturday, when out trapping, so I didn't sleep like I usually do, last night. Today I had to take a long nap. I didn't want to miss out on enjoying the snow at all during today, but sometimes, a nap is what I need and this afternoon, I needed a nap.
Poor cats and poor you. Hopefully the Tuesday clinic won't be cancelled.
ReplyDeleteNaps are good. Very good. Ask any cat.
I hope it won't be cancelled for tomorrow again.
DeleteIt is very pretty. Careful about frostbite. It's a shame the clinic was cancelled. Good luck for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI hope they're not closed tomorrow. I went to bed very early, wake up and my car is again covered in snow. I'd cleared it off yesterday. I didn't measure but looks to be another three or four inches, plus its 25 degrees out.
DeleteSnow is very pretty, but it can cause a lot of problems. Other than a few flakes, we haven't had snow here yet. BTW, I think one of the reasons they put mesh in tennis shoes is to make them lighter and for your feet to breathe. Running shoes almost always have mesh. Sometimes shoes that are designated for walking, are all leather.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to find all leather ones, that also are good for the all weather wear I put them through. I have very long narrow feet, so I can't wear men's shoes, as they are too wide, but finding the length in women's shoes is nearly impossible. I have to take what I can find. I had some new balance decent ones, with no mesh, and wore them three years, at which point they fell apart. But they've discontinued that "model" and the one supposed to be closest to it, I ordered. Had mesh. Didn't see that in the photos though.
DeleteNow your food scale quite working? ~sigh~ I'm with you on shoes with mesh tops. They're not good for Ohio weather, either. Today it's raining and more thunderstorms (!) predicted. Fingers crossed no further tornadoes arise around the Midwest and that your gutters stay put. ~hugs~ That video is precious, by the way.
ReplyDeleteYeah, waiting to see if a new battery will help. No extra 9 volt batteries to be found, in my battery cache. Darn!
