Mom of Kitten

Mom of Kitten Caught yesterday

She looks so small in that big cage.

One of the lady's fixed kitties, up there.  The cat is so funny, plays with leaves, chases dandelion tops.

I told Shorty I didn't want to hold onto the mom cat, without any spay neuter reservations.  I only wanted to get the two kittens.

But I left two traps up there, which she messed with, filled with food cans, and mom got caught.  But she didn't call me about the mom in the trap until 6:30 at night.   I debated with myself, on telling her to just let her go.  I have no spay neuter reservations, but how many trips up there do I really want to make?  Takes over an hour to drive up, one way.

So I drove up and got mom.   By the time I was almost all the way home, I felt like I'd been driving for days.

There were so many cat food cans inside the trap, all empty, turned over so I wondered just how long had mom really been in the trap.  My guess is she'd been in there most of the day.  She'd reset the other trap too, for the other kitten, in a manner that would never catch anything, so I redid the set and told her to quit messing around and set it like I told her to.

That won't happen.  Once I'd left the scene, I bet that trap was immediately messed with and changed.  Everyone knows better.  People can't help doing things the way they feel is better.

This morning, mom was dazed and exhausted.  I put her carefully into a large cage, for her comfort.  She has no idea what is to become of her, poor baby.  It's my job to make her feel safe, for now.  And let her get some sleep.

In the meantime, I'm trying to find a spay spot for her somewhere.  And just did!!!  She can be fixed Monday, and there's space too for the adult male Shorty has inside her place.   What a relief.  Now if that last kitten gets caught!

  1. Let's all sing, Halleluiah! The mom found a spot to a fixed along with the male. A better life for all involved.

  2. Sigh at those who know better. And sadly there are a LOT of them. I do hope the last kitten can be caught - even if it does mean that you will have another loooong drive.

  4. I'm puzzled as to why folks don't trust experts like you. Grrr... I learned decades ago to trust those wiser. And there are many. ;P
