I don't feel like such a pain wonk. My brother tore a knee ligament I think. He's in bad pain and is going to the doctor. He's got a high pain tolerance too. Now I don't feel so bad about all the complaining I did when I tore my knee last August. I did a lot of cursing and whining over it and hobbling around on those darn crutches and almost agreed to surgery.
It's much better now and only hurts now and then at night. I do knee exercises. The futon turned out great for that. I lay it flat, from its normal couch position. Then I extend my legs in the air while on my back and pretend I'm riding a bike and all while I watch TV, What beats that?
But I got overly zealous a few nights ago doing it too long, thinking 'oh man, I can do this a long time now' and also began doing situps while doing the biking with my legs. Well, long story short, now I can't really turn my head. Pulled something I guess in my neck. Old age. What fun. It's always something. I turn my whole body now, instead of neck. Then I have that bad shoulder that renders one arm half useless. Good thing I'm learning to use my left hand like a right hand. I guess that's why we have two arms and hands. Spare parts.
Anyhow, I feel bad for my brother. I don't like to hear of anyone else in pain.
I had the two cats in the garage already from the folks trapping their own, but they trapped three more last night. I met them over near where they live this morning early to get them. It's on the way to the clinic, so its convenient.
The cats at their colony are like movie stars. They're gorgeous! Take Tess, the long hair torbi girl. I can see her in slo mo with her beautiful hair flowing in the wind, in a close up shot, in some movie.
This morning at curbside cat drop off, outside the clinic, I was third car back. Vivian, the Silverton cat lady/corgi fanatic, was outside her car without her mask, shivering to beat the band, and talking through the open car window to Rhonda, a Salem extreme cat person. I got out, all masked up, pulled my fleece jacket tighter around me, to ward off that cold wind and freezing rain, and wagged my finger at her about her maskless face. She said she'd already been French kissing the other cat people, so what's the point. I pointed down wind, where anything she breathed out would end up, and said "Just think about those poor people two miles down who have to breath in what you breath out." She's a jokster and hurried back into her car to don her mask and warm up.
It was such a lovely Oregon morning. Freezing wind blowing. Dampness that permeated to the bone. Rain coming down. What else could one want in a morning.
Here are the five beautifuil cats. I am jealous of Tess's hair. Mine is such a wreck these days. I suppose if I combed it mornings......
Tess |
Trixie, Tess's sister, who also has gorgeous hair. This photo does not do her justice. |
Blaze is very handsome but its hard to remember that because of his cracking loud unneutered male yowl. |
Mama Kitty (sex so far unknown) but that's what they call her, was the most outraged of the five. |
Pumpkin just kept looking at me like "I'm so cute. Did you notice?" Yes, I did notice. |
So that was my big highlight of the day--taking those cats up to the clinic. I think I'll make a cup of coffee, go out in the garage and see if the roof leak is dripping and if so, maybe count the drips per hour, or something.
They are lovely. My beloved cat Luna had fur that would blow in the breeze through an open door or window. :) I hope you and your brother improve. Pain stinks. And my hair's a wreck, too. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm good. My neck is much better today. Not so sure about my brother though. My hair has been a wreck my entire life. Nothing new there. Glad its not just me, ha.
DeletePumpkin looks lovely. I know the whole body turning instead of neck swivelling well enough.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us are very familiar with that required body turning action, Andrew.
DeleteNot a big fan of pain. I do stretch and exercise every other day. It helps keep me limber.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Aww pretty kitties

ReplyDeleteI assume that the last question didn't have a question mark because it was rhetorical. Still, I will answer it. Surely, the wonders of God's creation would be enhanced by a thousand year flood combined with--in the same hour--the often promised +9 earthquake. Oh, yeah, throw in two collapsed knees and panicking caged cats as the floodwaters rise. I could call you about then and ask, "Hey, Jody, what's up?" and you could say, "Oh, nothing much. How about with you?!
