I had five reservations for spay neuter at WHS last Friday.
However, the clinic was closed Friday, due to the ice storm. Surgeries originally scheduled for Friday, were posponed til Monday, tomorrow.
However today I got a notice the clinic would also be closed tomorrow.
Oh boy. I don't get many reservations to begin with and now to lose out on five of those very few.
And then there was the Holly buff orange boy already in my bathroom, trapped last Wednesday night, for Friday fixing. I'd set him up in a cage in my bathroom so he could be warm while he waited but he can't wait another five days in there now that Monday clinic is also cancelled.
I told the others with cats I was going to take up to be fixed that once again the clinic was cancelled. But what about buff boy. I call him Diego now.
I messaged a private clinic in Brownsville. I'd found their facebook page. I certainly did not expect a response on a Sunday but I got one. Bring him in at 8:00 a.m.!!!
I am grateful and this boy in the bathroom will be too.

This is his cage set up. He has a shelf, a litter box, and even a carrier, along with food and water. He spends most of the time up on the shelf. |
Lucky Diego. Warm, dry and about to have an operation which will improve his life (even if he doesn't think so at first).
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sure he doesn't think much of his day today.
DeleteI assume it will be a cheap fee. Do you have to explain the volunteer work you do to a clinic that doesn't know you and then hope the clinic does the job at minimal cost?
ReplyDeleteNo, its full price. But better than releasing him unfixed. I have such a long list of cats waiting to be fixed, and now I'm down this week's meager five appointments and that much further behind. No vet in this area gives discounts for nonprofit spay neuters. Doesn't happen around here.
DeleteI imagine that the bad weather in your area cancelled a lot of things. Glad you were able to find some other appointments.
ReplyDeleteI found only one and its a full price private clinic, but they are cheaper than most in the area for a neuter, at least, under $100.
DeleteWhat a wonderful thing you do, over and over. Thank you!
