We had lots of rain. In fact about 3 inches between Saturday night and Sunday night.
Today it was warm and there was more rain but not as much, but also wind.
At least its something to talk about.
Have a look at the Santiam River, up by the park:
Remember the Santiam at the park runs as high as the engineers that run the dams above it say it will run. They control the flow.
They seem to do a good job of figuring it out.
I wanted to get out and get some Christmas light photos before people take them down. There are some spectacular displays this year. People went all out and I love driving some of the streets in town at night so much!
The buffeting wind, coupled with driving rain and the river, running so wild and beauitful, made my heart beat with the feel of it all and I was overwhelmed.
Look like river is raging. It rain most of day here.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
The river was extremely impressive!
DeleteThere was a very bad flood here when engineers got their calculations wrong and held back water in a dam, hoping to increase storage after a drought and then had to let a lot go.
ReplyDeleteI hope that is a boat ramp into the river and not a road.
I know they can make some tragic errors with water control. That was indeed the boat ramp, not a road.
DeleteWow. I don't remember ever receiving that much rain here - though other parts of Oz do.
ReplyDeleteEven as a non-believer I delight in Christmas lights. I haven't seen any yet - I really should get out more.
The lights will soon be gone, so yeah, get out and see some if you can. We don't often get the Pineapple Express, as they call the straight on stream of constant rain like what hit us Saturday evening.
DeleteWow! That is an amazing sight.
ReplyDeleteWater can be so scary. We haven't been out looking at Christmas lights except for the ones we see on the way home from work. Maybe tonight will be the night to drive around because we are supposed to get lots of rain and high winds tomorrow ourselves.
ReplyDeleteWell, people sure have outdone themselves around this area with lights. They're so bright and beautiful on a dark night!
DeleteIsn't that the truth, Snow. Every fricking year, they say how far behind we are on water, yet every year it seems to rain even more.
