Yesterday, ten Junk Shop colony cats and I went on a road trip to Portland and the FCCO, so they could be fixed.
I'd gotten 12 from the colony, not sure how, luck I guess. I'd ended up splatted in the mud myself up there, after tripping over half an old hoe buried in the mud and grass. There's a lot of junk everywhere there.
All I got from that fall was muddy though, didn't hurt anything, thankfully.
Yesterday morning, I woke to frost covering my car. So I had to warm it up before loading up the cats for the trip. I also had to change their papers again, those lining the traps.
I spent part of the day in a parking lot and part at a friends house up there, which was really nice for a change.

The clinic has a Covid protocol. You arrive, then check in by phone link. When its your turn, you get a text to bring your cats up to a table. You remove your cage covers, they come forward, everyone with masks on required, and put their cage covers on and take the cats inside. Same thing in reverse when you pick up. It's very slick and easy. |

One of my parking lots has acquired a couch.

Here are the ten cats who went. Another of the twelve in all I got there was very ill, and Keitha's Kitties took him to their vet, where he tested Feline Leukemia positive. Chowder was neutered however and they hope to find him a placement somewhere. He is very tame and sweet.

The weather has turned nasty. I was awakened early this morning by wind gusts and rain pounding outside. On the drive back from the clinic, I encountered flooded streets. These occur when storm drains get plugged in fallen leaves.
I hate returning cats in such weather, but the ten fixed yesterday need out of their traps, so off I go with them. They've had quite an adventure, are now well travcelled cats. They've been to the big city and have tales to tell.
Love that the clinic has found a way to keep everyone safe. And am very glad that your fall was muddy but no worse.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the cats DO have stories to tell. You no doubt feature as an ogre. They are wrong.
How far are u from Portland
ReplyDeleteShort answer, 70 miles, but I'm not sure where that means in Portland. All interstate since Albany is right on I5, the north south interstate. So its a straight shot up the freeway north to Portland from here. The problems arise when congestion starts near Wilsonville all the way into Portland. But the FCCO has been giving me very early check in times, so I have no encountered it going up, but on the way home, yes, often bumper to bumper to south of Wilsonville.
DeleteWay to go! Thank you for giving these beautiful creatures a new lease on life. ~hugs~ We had high winds here but no rain yesterday. I dodged some broken trees and shrubs while out driving on an errand. Stay safe!
