Election Day

Election day has come and gone.

There is no declared presidential winner, but, with the states left counting, I imagine it will be the usual.  He gave a tantrum like speech already, declaring himself victor, declaring that Democrats were trying to fraudulantly steal it from him.  Oh brother.  Four more years of enduring this?

I think he thinks he owns the Supreme Court and maybe he does now, to be rather blunt about what we've become here, declaring he'll have the Supreme Court rule on his win.  Or something.   The slide into this for America.  I've tuned out the news for my own mental well being.

I'm sure it would be quite difficult for America to transition out of the reality TV sort of government we now have.   Ah, the Obama years.  I still remember them, although that time seems so long ago now.  Rife with no drama, lol.  There just wasn't any.  Photos of a President dancing with his wife or chasing kids on the floor of the White House.   Ah those years.......

Oregon decriminalized possession of small amounts of any drug, offering treatment and housing instead.  Who pays?  Everybody else I guess.  I wonder how many rounds of treatment a drug addict gets.  Cancer patients don't get that kind of financial help.  However they will now have access to magic mushrooms to make death easier to bear.  That's ok by me.  I'll be asking for that when I get cancer.   So on the one hand, we will be paying to house drug addicts and for their treatment, like drug use is bad.  And on the other, we legalize more and more drugs.   Go figure.

Alcohol consumption still causes probably the most family damage, deaths (when they crash their cars into people drunk) and destruction and its legal.  Go figure.

The will of the people.  That's what democracy is about.   I voted, that's all I could do.   And I did.  End of story.  Live with results.  We will probably all survive whether our candidate we supported won or lost.  We're all just a bunch of messed up human beings trying to get by.

I went out to the new Lacomb colony.   The lady got 16 FCCO spots for Thursday.  However I trapped 22 cats and kittens.  There may be a couple more, to boot.  I know there's one more at least.  I'll go out there again this morning, with some traps.  I emailed the FCCO, asking if by any chance in hell, they have had more openings for Thursday, so more of these can be done.

Otherwise, the colony caretakers will hold the kittens, nine of them among the 22, in a room in their house, to try to tame, and also get more appointments so they too can be fixed.

I split out the kittens last night when I got home, and it only took a couple hours to catch the 22, and put the kittens all in my one large cage.  I used to have two large dog crates, to hold cats or kittens. My other cage is still in Salem with a young couple who fostered three kittens once for me.  I've not been able to connect to get it back yet.

I'd had to double and triple up the kittens I caught, in traps, to have enough traps to catch so many cats.

Here are photos of a few of the caught cats.

And kittens.

Yes, it's a lot of work to care for so many extras even for a couple of days.  And takes a lot of cat food and litter.

I did not catch this adult girl

I caught the gray adult on the right but not the female on his left.  Her kittens are here though.

So that was my election day.   I had gotten up very early, so I also ended up in bed last night very early, leaving election watch to those more inclined to be interested.  I knew today would be long with lots of poop scooping involved, not unlike how many politicians will spend today.

    1. Just me so far. I hope I can drum up some help for them with the kittens. Every rescue is still full though, from quite a frightful kitten season.

  2. I appreciate your realistic attitude towards democracy. I voted, and even though I wasn't happy with the way some things turned out I won't try to throw a tantrum about it.

  3. It’s 10:00 am central right now, and I’m seeing Biden with a 25 electoral vote lead, however it’s the Biden supporters that are acting tragic. Trump supporters are quiet. I’m confused? What am I missing? Biden is winning so far

    1. I haven't watched any news yet on it, just a couple of messages from people who claimed early that it was either tied or very close. I don't know who won.

    2. Biden has 10 more electoral votes now, at 3:30 pm central, and Trump only has one more. Biden has a
34 electoral vote lead now. And the tragic acting from the left continues. I’m confused! Biden is winning!!!

  4. That is a heap of cats and kittens needing help.
    Thank you.
Your final sentence is right on the money too. Mind you, I think that more politicians create poop than those who clean it up.

  5. They are so beautiful. I have friend who actually tries to rehome them outside near her home. Granted, it's not this many. She does have shelters outside for them.

It is hard to agree that it is democracy when your vote can count for a lot more or a lot less than the vote of someone in another state.
