Is anyone out there besides me wondering whether to have candy for kids on Halloween?
Oregon Health Authority is advising not to do it. But I hate disappointing kids and its one of my favorite nights.
I'm thinking up a solution, with a pull line, in case any kids come by. Pulling my line would send the basket of candy out to them. No contact Halloween. Or would drop it down in a basket. In fact, if the doorbell rang, I could drop the basket from inside the house, not even get up from my chair. All that would take would be an eye hook.
There will be candy for any kids coming this way.
MASK UP, kiddos, and get your candy. I don't think on Halloween the words "Mask Up" will be necessary.
We have increasing cases in this county. Not bad though. There were 7 or 8 new cases yesterday. But there are over 50k people in this town alone.
I wear a mask when I go into a store and wash my hands and otherwise do not think about it. I rarely see any people anyway. Social distancing is my norm. Going to the knee doctor was probably the riskiest thing I have done, as far as covid exposure.
My knee is still good and I can't believe it. Every now and then it just suddenly buckles but that doesn't even hurt. My brother laughed and said, just wait, it won't last. Me being the optimist all I think about is how good it is right now, today, at this moment. I'll take today and full nights of sleep without that pain waking me. I'll take it and be happy!
It's wonderful to not wake up every night moaning in pain. I love it!
The only remembrance right now of my knee pain is my right hand and arm pain. I pinched some nerve in my armpit using that crutch, so now my hand and wrist and forearm hurt with nerve pain. I shouldn't have leaned on that crutch, like I did. It had lost its cushion at the top years back. It will get better with time.
My brother works all day as a contractor then goes off to his second job. His second job is helping his son build a house on the property he's had for a long time. Covid has slowed things down with getting permits approved which bothers my brother no end. The county workers are working from home and he joked they might not even get up til 11, then eat some Little Debbie snack cakes for breakfast, watch some TV, time for another nap and maybe do a little work around 2:30. He was joking but he has to go to work, so he wonders why they don't. He's just wanting to get things done out there before the heavy rains set in so it gets frustrating for he and my nephew to wait around on the permit people.
Today, I'm going to the lake again. It will be close to 80! The last day of good weather. Supposed to be pouring by Friday. And many degrees cooler.
I had to go get Little Thunder back from Heartland. She was one of the four RV Park girls they took, but she didn't do very well there in a cage. So I got her back on Saturday. She hid and was scared, was dehydrated and wouldn't eat. But soon she was enjoying the pets and the hugs. I gave her sub cu fluids and vegetable oil because I figure when a cat is dehydrated they are also constipated. And that sure made her feel better. She was eating whole hog again by yesterday.
She may have a long haul though getting over whatever happened to her in that darn tiny trailer. Nothing good I imagine. She's the most beautifully marked little girl. I don't know where she'll go in the end, but for now she's fine here, safe and loved.
I only have the five appointments again Friday. The Millersburg lady trapping her neighbors cats for him will try for the one or maybe two unfixed ones left there. There might be only the one left, another younger adult. It's such a large property, filled with junk filled outbuildings, heaven for cats, but you can't really tell who is left. I'll be stopping at the RV park today again, to see if the lady still has the three kittens. I got their mom fixed two weeks ago, but the three kittens were only 1 1/2 pounds, way too little to be fixed. She said she had homes for them but is supposed to wait til they're fixed. But I wonder if they're even going to still be there.
I'm not sure what the county is recommending, but our neighborhoods is definitely doing Trick-or-Treating along with the annual outdoor Halloween gathering. We are going to skip the party, but have candy for any kid that comes by. I figure with masks and the short time they are there, contact should be minimal. We have considered leaving the candy out for them to help themselves, but haven't agreed on that yet. A pulley system would be fun. I'll mention it to my husband.
ReplyDeleteI think the pulley system or even just letting it down from above would be great fun anyhow! I'm going to rig that.
DeleteI am thrilled that your knee pain is absent at the moment. Pain is a soul sucker.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on pain being a soul sucker. What I love is being able to sleep through the night again.
DeleteOur condo is in an apartment-style building, and you have to be buzzed in. I was pretty sure there would be no trick or treaters anyway.
ReplyDeleteGreat news on your knee!
Oh for sure you'll have none there. Thanks on my knee, I can't believe its doing so well now, but I will take it!
DeleteI hope you had a good time at the lake and great lateral thinking about Halloween sweeets.
ReplyDeleteI had a fabulous time at the lake today.
DeleteThe uncertainty must be difficult. ~hugs~ I'm glad your knee feels okay for now and hope you become pain free as possible soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing well, Darla, thank you.
DeleteI’m just going to get five king size bars, give them to the first five kids (if we get five) and then shut it down.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea.
