Impressing the Kids Has Consequences

I love the Neuterscooter family kids. They're easy to impress. They bought some bottles of rootbeer for their lunch Saturday at the Corvallis clinic. Alas, no can opener to open the bottles with.

I decided to impress them with my worldly ways and began knocking the caps off the bottles by hooking the edge of the cap on the counter edge then hitting the other edge of cap and bottle lightly with my hand, which pops the cap right off. This worked fine for all but the last bottle, which for some reason, I decided to karate chop. Only I missed and hit the edge of the counter with the side of my hand rather hard. I did not cry out as that would not have been impressive at all, to the kiddies, but my hand has turned an ugly shade of blue black on the side. The NS vet asked what happened to my hand today and I sheepishly told her.

I'm a mess to be honest. Carrying all those carriers, some with multiple cats inside, at the Corvallis clinic, did in my neck and shoulder. That ripped out old shoulder injury has raised its fireballish head. There is a place just to the left of my spine down about four inches from my neck that feels like a red hot barbecue pit. Also, my facial nerves on the left side are quite inflamed, which happens when I inflame my neck from overuse. It's such a wonderful life.

I faked it anyhow, and plowed on, doing extremely physical labor I have no right doing, just to fit in and be useful. Now I'm paying in pain, but I'm trying to do so cheerfully because I knew it would happen and did it anyway, so I could be part of something and have some human contact.

Today I could barely stand myself. No matter what I did, pain was there with me. So I just resigned to it and said "Hello
Madam Pain, so you're coming along for the ride today, eh?" And Madam said, sadistically, "I am, and not just for today. Consider me now your sidekick." And I replied, far too cheerily for Madam Pain's liking "We'll see about that. I doubt you can keep up. And I know a nice side trip you might want to venture on alone." (wink, wink, trick trick).

So I'm home for the night. There will be no cat roundup. I know when to quit, at least. Well, that might be a lie.

The Feeding

I took the five kitties to the clinic yesterday morning, in Corvallis, to be fixed and vaccinated. I came home then, to do a few chores her...
