Well, the above photo is of Candy, the muted calico, striking in appearance, whom the old woman, now deceased, had taken in, just three weeks before she died, along with the torti kitten, Tiny Tiki.
Candy is gorgoues. She was previously abandoned by somebody else.
I am still trying to trap the four adults for the barn home, but instead, have trapped four previously fixed kittens, two spayed tame adult cats, Candy and the black tux, and one unfixed huge honking beat up Flamepoint, who was neutered today. I will have to return him, no room at the inn.
I believe the fourth of the adults I am after for the barn home, the only one not yet fixed, the medium hair brown tabby, might be a female in heat. Because some of these big toms coming around there, I've never seen in the area and neither have neighbors, other to say that they have been spraying their hubcats and wish they were gone for good. I can't place every stray cat in Albany however. He has to go back.
The second male the Overpopulation Poster Child colony caretakers were feeding, had a huge absess at the base of his tail. The vet said it had drained, but scabbed over and seemed to be filling again. No doubt this absess was the result of the big black tux male, a massive cat, I got neutered there a couple days before him. Anyhow, the second male was neutered, given a long lasting shot of penicillin, and the couple is keeping him in their garage for a few days, to give him daily antibiotics that I supplied, courtesy of the gift card. It's a tragedy, all these unowned cats, abandoned, or scarcely noticed, fighting, getting hurt, nobody looking out for their welfare. Just sucks.
Like this big beat up Flamepoint. Tame? I don't know. I don't want to know, because I can't place him, have nowhere for him, and there are people who feed outside there at the trailer park. He'll find food and that's all I can do for him, other than saving his skin for awhile, from angry neighbors. His spray marking is not appreciated and draws him wrath rightfully. At least he's neutered and won't be doing that before long.
So I've got here four of the nine kittens, who need a place, and the two females, who need a place too. I have a home for the four wild adults, if I can just catch them. But not for any of the nine kittens or the two tame females.
Who can help out there? I'm overwhelmed. Who can take one or two of these cats and find them homes?
we're gonna have to change your moniker to "kittenkeeper" soon!! Why don't these people get the cats fixed before those adorable kittens are born? cute as they are, there seems to be no room at anyone's inn for the babies...
ReplyDeleteI don't know why they don't. I submitted an ad to start tomorrow, am going to plaster the valley with adoption fliers too and hope to find a few homes.
ReplyDeleteIf we were on the same continent as you we'd help out with long term fostering for you in a heartbeat. Young, old, feral, tame, sick, healthy, we wouldn't be choosy. We hope someone helps you out with these cats soon. Heros deserve help too, and you are a hero to these cats.
ReplyDeleteI know you'd help, EVerycat, if you weren't in England!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a bigger house! A 3 bedroom house an I have 10 inside and 3 outside! Sometimes I can't even manage to steal a bit of room on my own bed or pillow!
ReplyDeleteand you know i'd take those kitties in a heartbeat, too - and adopt sam if i were near enough to get him...suptice
