Six Kittens and three adults will be fixed today. All three adults are females. I didn't check the sex on four of the kittens, because they are feral as all get out. These are from the Columbus Greens ungrateful woman colony. Yup, that's what I named the colony. Ungrateful woman colony. After a couple times to a colony, I get a sense of what I will name it, so I can remember it and distinguish the colony in my mind, and its cats and associated people.
I guess the cats are all resultant from a drug addict nearby, who gets kittens, then kicks them out when they're no longer kitten cute looking. That's what I'm told anyhow.
I trapped five of the nine kittens yesterday. Rascal is the 6th kitten going to be fixed. I am panicked over the lack of homes I am finding cats. I'm not getting any contacts off petfinder anymore. It's like the site vanished off the face of the earth, in a way. I wonder if it is because most people now look on craigslist or something. I don't know. It has been months since I had a potential adoptor contact me after finding a cat or kitten they were interested in, on my petfinder site.
What does this tell me? I have to advertise, whether I can afford to or not, where people are looking for cats or kittens. Newspapers? I got one home off a $20 newspaper ad. It ran for ten days and produced a home for one kitten and cost me $20. Is that cost effective? I don't care, at this point. I have to find a way to find cats homes.
I know an adoption venue would help. People want to cruise cats, handle them, hold them, coo over them, before deciding. That's why shelters get traffic and why I don't. I've got to figure out a way. I have way way too many. The Lebanon situation plus a bunch of dumped cats put me into deep doodoo with too many cats. Now I'm going downhill fast.
The workload with more cats vastly increases. So does the stress and costs. This leaves me less time for sleep and less time to actually do the work that really reduces the suffering---spay, neuter.
There are also far fewer stable loving homes out there available. Drug and alcohol use in this area is sky high. People who use drugs or drink daily serve the god of addiction and they make lousy lousy owners.
The floor is not dry, still tacky. It is never going to dry. There is either something wrong with the product my brother sent or the water under the house problem is creating such moisture in the particle board, from the bottom up, that it is preventing it from drying out.
I e-mailed my brother and asked what I should do at this point. I hope he has some ideas because I can't live this way anymore. The heat has been cranked so high I can't sleep. The bill will be outrageous.
This was a project I should not have attempted. It seemed to go so well. It was hardening as I put it on, like in the spare bedroom. I had to rush in fact, because it was setting up, like in the spare bedroom. So why did it never dry out? I believe it is either a faulty product or the water under the house in that corner problem causing this. But whatever the cause, the result is what I have to deal with, and find an answer to.
I am also worried over the car noises. I have to find a way to get it in. It was supposed to go in a couple days ago, but I was in too much pain from my neck and shoulders. So I have to make another appointment.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
