The sobering images and stories out of China, as the nation prepares to host the Olympic games, makes me consider our own nation and its direction. Do we want to end up like China?
The skies are so densely polluted in the city I don't know how they even breathe there. They are trying to clear the skies for better public image for the games, and so the athletes can actually compete, by shutting down polluting factories and keeping most cars out for now. The Yangtze River often runs yellow or red from pollution. Algae blooms from pollution and bacteria foul the harbors. The government bulldozed thousands upon thousands of citizens homes, to make room for Olympic venues.
How can one watch these games on TV, knowing the stories behind the preparation?
How will the media spin a happy face on the Olympics this year there? I'm sure they will and a lot of athletes have worked hard to try to be the best.
Is this our future if we do not heed the warnings and continue in our ways? Do you want to live in a constant pollution dense fog or live in a house by a filthy river? Would you sit back and allow our government to bulldoze your home or your neighbors homes or just the homes of our citizens to create an Olympic venue so the world would think all is well here?
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
